    Onederland!!!

I started with a gastric sleeve surgery done in July 2019 weighing just shy of 350lbs. I had a lot of issues and tough recovery and it required a revision to a gastric bypass at the end of February 2020. I do not own a scale in my home as I would obsess over the number and with the whole Covid situation I was not going to in person dr appointments but today finally I was able to go and I weighed in at 187lbs!!!! That number seems crazy to me. I was over 200 at the age of 12 and I’m now 46. I want to laugh and cry at the same time. This last year was probably the hardest thing I’ve ever been through and I am not back to being 100% healthy yet but I am so excited to finally be under the 200lb mark.

Update: I had a virtual consult today with a Dr. in Port St. Lucie, FL. I found him after doing an extensive search of before/after arm photos on Real Self. His results are amazing! He talked me through why, he uses a very specific technique that seems to give really good results. He seems a bit more conservative than Dr. #1 from my first post. He won't do all 3 procedures at once, reason being he seems to spend a good deal more time on each procedure and won't keep his patients under anesthesia for extended periods of time. I have one more local consult tomorrow, and have requested another virtual consult with another team in Fl. At this point I'm leaning strongly towards Dr. #3 in Fl, as he took so much time with me today, was very very thorough with his explanations and had very impressive reviews and photos on Real Self, his website, and has been mentioned several times in FB groups I'm on. I'm still a bit scared of flying soon after surgery, but I also want to go with someone I'm 100% comfortable with. I shooting for a surgery date right after New Years, so want to get this on the books. Edit to add: If I end up going with Dr. #3 I’ll have my arm lift & extended tummy tuck in January, and wait until a later date for my breast lift (maybe with augmentation). The girls look ok if I’m wearing a good bra, they can wait 😂

    Are you cold?

I have always been hot natured, I thought the weight kept me hotter than the average person. And I live in the south and the summers are pretty brutal. But I am almost a week post op and I am cold all the time. I turned my air temperature up but I have to be mindful of other people in my household. I walk around with a cardigan on even when the temperature is in the high 80s/low 90s. Has anyone else experienced this issue? I start my vitamins tomorrow, maybe that will help.

I had a lap-band put in about 14 years ago. I went from 320 to 250 in about a year. I never could get much saline put in the band because every time I did I would wake up drowning in my own saliva. I finally had all the saline taken out and still have some restriction and cant eat certain types of food. I have gained back to 300. I am going back to the same doctor on July 24th and getting a date for removal of lap-band and start process to have gastric sleeve surgery. If I can lose some weight it will be easier to exercise. I enjoy going to the gym but would like to lose weight. My wife says when I go to the gym i just get bigger. Anyways....good luck. I hope it works for you.

I've been on Wellbutrin forever and nobody will make me stop. Although I am worried about my ability to swallow pills after my surgery. However, just be an advocate for your mental health! Sometimes it takes a LONG time to trial different medications to see how it will affect your mind and body. But just stick with it. I really hope you feel better soon! I've been taking Wellbutrin for several years. It didn't interfere whatsoever with my weight loss.

    JUNE 2020 BYPASSERS

Nurse called to check on me post op. Asked me if I’d had a bowel movement yet. I tell her no. She says I need to take Milk of Magnesia because they want me to still have bowel movement even though I’m on a liquid diet. Wake up in the middle of the night in a sea of diarrhea in my bed all over my new white bed sheets and blanket. One of the most disgusting things I’ve ever experienced. If you are going to take Milk of Magnesia, take it first thing in the morning. Do not take in the afternoon or early evening. If you do, you might just literally shit the bed.
