    Month out and confused

I am a few days from a month out, things are going well, I am getting my water and protein. My provider has me moving to full diet this week. I have been so conflicted on what to eat and do, so many opinions. So I have really just started trying things to see what happens, nothing bad of course but I have tried salad and lunchmeats. Spicy things for some flavor. I just don't know if I am doing wrong or not. I have been assuming if I don't dump or have pain, I should be ok. I have vomited once after eating some turkey a bit too fast, otherwise though, I feel good. Is that enough? Is my body going to tell me if I have done wrong?

@FluffyChix, thank you for that explanation. I never thought of that. You are so wise! I will up my water intake, minus the cranberry juice 🥤

@Torriluv02, thank you so much for such detailed account! I’m so happy to be back on the app and taking everything in. Everyone’s response has helped me sooo much in getting focused and remembering why I had the surgery in the first place. Not an excuse, but it’s been so hard with work and family and life happening. No one knows I’ve had Bariatric surgery. I have kept it a secret because experience with my people has taught me its best this way.

I'll be 3 years out October 5th. My lowest was 140lbs. I didn't stay there long. Ive been in the 170s for MONTHS. I notice tho. If i eat dense protein, weigh it out and my veggies. That's all i can eat. If that's all i have room for, i can't even think if drinking anything for over an hour sometimes. The less carbs i have the less cravings i have. If i just do dense protein with veggies 3 times a day it's hard for me to get to 1000 calories. It's at night when my sweet tooth gets hella triggered. But im realizing if i keep my tummy full of dense protein i can't risk the heartburn and slimes and everything else that comes with over eating. I have to overcome my mind at this point. Get back in the gym and fix my water and sleeping schedule. My only saving grace is my restriction. It's why i think i haven't gone back to 200lbs. That and my resolve. Ive been pretty easily maintaining in the 170s but i hate it. Im still in the obese range for my height and it upsets the hell out of me. Just know i know the struggle. Your restriction im sure is still there. You probably haven't triggered it with the right foods. Beef and chicken i can only do about 2.5 oz of if i eat them with 1.5oz of veggies. And I'm full for over an hour and satisfied for several. The denser the protein, the less i eat, the less hungry i feel. Reading that makes the lightbulb go off for me lol. I hope i was able to make you feel a little more at ease. It's not as hard most times as we make it for ourselves. Im here for an ear. I really have no one to vent to without feeling guilty and whiney lol. Sorry for the life story lol. Sent from my SM-G950U using BariatricPal mobile app

I know if I eat too much or too fast I do burp but it’s not painful, only uncomfortable. I hope you are feeling better. Maybe it was the mix of fat and spice or a certain kind of fish?

Yeah - tell HR about the surgery, negotiate that as part of the job offer. I would not cancel it if I were you !!!! If it's a desk type job, you probably don't need to take 2 weeks off for it. I felt like I could have gone back to work after 4 days but I took a week in any case. Just tell them about it and let them know it's something you have been working towards for a long time and need to do. Companies can also advance you PTO if needed to for things; there's lots of options to explore.

    Stalls after surgery

I think patience is the key to stalls. I find this incredibly difficult as I have the patience of a gnat.

What do you do for sweetening things?

I like Splenda in my decaf coffee, but everything else I take straight up without sweetener.

The shift of emotions is real

My surgeon warned me that I could feel a little depressed after surgery . Well... I’m not feeling necessarily depressed but so frustrated with everyone around me. My patience is at an all time low. I rarely fight with those at home. Typically glass 1/2 full type of girl. My grandchildren moved out 1 year ago so it’s just the 4 adults left here at home. I’m the one who has for the last 10 years been the “mommy” to all of us. I run the day to day “operations “, do all the cooking shopping etc. I’m the matriarch of my family . In general I do feel frustrated with the others on a regular but yesterday I kind of blew up... 1st yelling at them.... then crying. Holy moley !!! THATS NOT TYPICAL. Honestly I was a little justified because I wasn’t getting some of the help I needed but my delivery was definitely out of character! So yes.... we can have have some emotional upheavals . The temporary hormone changes are real!! On a positive.... today I’m one week out from sleeve & down 9 lbs. I’m getting better every day at taking all my meds. For a few days that was rough. I’m getting in my protein & my fluids. Thank you all for listening!!! 👍👍👍
