    Choices of liquids

Yup I was thinking I will make my own ! I also got cream of chicken soup , it only has 9 carbs and 1 sugar per serving so that may be better overall .

You're one of the lucky ones! People only feel restriction with fluids if they have a lot of swelling which makes it difficult for the liquid to trickle through the stomach. Liquids don't stay in your pouch, but just "slide" through into your intestines. You won't feel real restriction until you get to soft foods.

    1 Week Post Op...

My doc gave me 2 weeks of zofran shots for nausea and I think that really helps . I also get tired very quickly and I was in pretty good shape prior, doing 5-6 days of spin and yoga before surgery . My 82 yo mother had more energy than me on a 10 minute walk 4 days after surgery ! I found that I get super tired when not enough liquids and. Frankly I have been maybe on 200 calories a day for a few days so hopefully today I can get in some protein and get more energy .

You are not alone. Studies are showing that people that have had bariatric sergery are more likely to get late onset alcoholism. I suggest to start cutting back if you noticed that cutting back causes you to have physical effects such as shaking I would mention it to your primary care doctor. You colossal look into AA meetings and your community. Sent from my SM-G950U using BariatricPal mobile app

It's time to address what's going on. Cross addictions after surgery are common. It's important that you have recognized that you are having an issue with alcohol. Look up treatment options in your area. Addiction is a primary, chronic disease of brain reward, motivation, memory and related circuitry. Dysfunction in these circuits leads to characteristic biological, psychological, social and spiritual manifestations. This is reflected in an individual pathologically pursuing reward and/or relief by substance use and other behaviors. Addiction is characterized by inability to consistently abstain, impairment in behavioral control, craving, diminished recognition of significant problems with one’s behaviors and interpersonal relationships, and a dysfunctional emotional response. Like other chronic diseases, addiction often involves cycles of relapse and remission. Without treatment or engagement in recovery activities, addiction is progressive and can result in disability or premature death. You can overcome this! Wish you the best, Jenn

    New addiction instead of food???

This is what the pre-op psy exam is supposed to help flush out. Get to some addiction counseling / AA. Several bottles of wine a day, sadly, makes you an alcoholic. You seem to be accepting the addiction to wine, now you need to step up and get some help. Alcohol is in no way a healthier option than food, I don't see how you can justify wine as being healthier. 2 bottles of wine puts you into the 1300 - 1500 calorie a day mark, and with no protein or other required nutritional value... it's pure empty calories. So it's really no better than soda from a "health" standpoint. I hope you do get some help... this is bad on a few levels for a non-altered person, worse so for a WLS patient.

    The Case for More Water

I still go back to this one for drinking. I can't tell you how much it's helped me from a satiety standpoint. Pouch Rules For Dummies--which I can't find an active link to now. It's for mature pouches and sleeves, and shouldn't be used in the first 6 months. But in a nutshell: Drink about 6-8oz of water as quickly as possible. The take small sips to keep full to the point that you don't want to swallow any more. You do this about 15 minutes before a meal. Then drink nothing more until after you eat. Then you wait a minimum of 45 minutes to 2 hours until you drink again. At that point, you sip, sip, sip on water to fully hydrate your tool. It only works if you've been hydrating all along. So I roughly drink 1 bottle of water between 2hours after a meal and up to the 15 minutes before a meal. Then I drink another 1/2 bottle+ a little more to water load. You can also use the water loading technique once you are healed fully (around 6 months) any time you're hungry or munchy. It will fill you up for about 15-30 minutes (or at least it does me). By doing this you are getting all your water in, and you keeping yourself from being snakky. I can't tell you how many times I thought I was hungry, when I was actually thirsty. I am able to drink between 4-6 bottles of water a day (16.9floz).
