I'm not thin, nor do I want to be thin I am, however at a very healthy weight and my body fat is under 28%...which is perfect for me. I am a muscular, fit, strong force to be reckoned with. I run again, ride my mountain bike, landscape, kayak, rock climb and am having a hell of a lot of fun:) Best part is to be off all my meds (save thyroid) and have perfect labs. My diet is extremely different, but it's awesome and it makes me feel really good. I don't feel deprived and I splurge on treats in tightly controlled moderation. I exercise A LOT...I do fun stuff and it makes me feel really good:) It's worth it. And it's wonderful:)

I might be the only one willing to talk about it, but it’s mentally challenging too. It’s not all rainbows and butterflies when you get close to goal. I have a hard time as seeing myself as healthy/thinned. I still very much feel like the fat kid sometimes. Also the “old me” sometimes tries to come back and say “yeah totally go get that Sonic sandwich” and crap like that. Is it better, yes. Is it easier, not in every aspect of life. But that’s just my two cents. I’m young , I have a lot of time to reconcile my feelings about it all 😂

    Eating too much?

Some foods are easier to eat larger amounts of, usually they are softer in texture, some people (me) lovingly call them sliders . Not a big deal when its protein based and you need the macros, a much bigger deal when the foods hold little to no nutritional value for your current lifestyle (crackers-no judgment I promise). To help with this you can eat only the recommended size (1/4-1/2 cup), watch out for these sliders and make sure you are eating for 30 mins or less (part of the 30/30/30 rule) because the stomach does eventually empty (it can happen while you are eating) Eating for longer periods means you'll be replacing cals too quickly and runs the risk of grazing (which means higher cal consumption effectively canceling out the effects of the surgery) Check with your team for more clarity

    Drinking Too Much Too Fast

Oh thank you so much for the great feedback and advice. I’ve been a nervous wreck all morning! Thank you!

Hi all. Three weeks out from being sleeved and I am having the worst pain this morning at one of my incision sites. I know it’s only three weeks but was hoping this would start to go away at this point. Did a lot of walking yesterday. Just woke up and in pain. Anyone else get the same thing?

    Not losing weight evenly

Yep! Weird how our bodies work. I have always had uneven breasts but never really noticeable to anyone except me when bra shopping. And now my feet are weird! My left foot is a tad bit fatter than my right lol

    Plateau

You will be surprised at what weight training will do for fat loss. I say try incorporating light weight training 3x/week

    Not losing weight evenly

Yes! I am very partial to things being symmetrical, so I notice when something is even a little bit lopsided. Don't worry, the body goes through a lot of odd changes during the rapid weightless phase. It will eventually even out.

    These stalls are no joke!

I never took measurements until last week, 4 months post-op, so don't feel bad. Weight is a major metadata point for the insurance companies and other entities that needs metrics. Sent from my XT1609 using BariatricPal mobile app

    Eating too much?

I do find I am able to eat more soup and say salad rather than a denser start of 4 oz of just protein. If I eat 4 oz of meat I will be full but I am always able to eat more than 4oz of chili or soup. I don’t stress over it as I make my own soups and they are high in protein and low in carbs. I don’t stress over eating more salad because sometimes my body needs the vegetables and I get sick of meat all the time.
