I had the sleeve done in 2015. At the time I was married, with great insurance. When I started to lose a decent amount of weight, my husband decided he wouldn't support me any longer. He quit his job, we lost insurance, he left me and made our children and I leave our home. I got on my feet, mostly, very quickly. Then I met someone. I had another child. I gained 75 lbs back. It was devastating. But I rose up and lost it all again. In total I have lost 137 pounds. Now comes the worst. Time and Time again I have been denied the surgery to reconstruct my breasts and abdomen. My insurance is ridiculous. The standards for medical necessity have been met but because I c…

I am posting with Viamin E cream on the scars and nipples as I dont know how to cover nipples on photos. I am a complete tenchnaphobe. There are a couple of dressings on which will be removed on Thursday this week.. whooot whoot Before Three weeks out from surgery At least now when I take my bra off my boobs don't hit the floor lol Kate

  4. Hi all, I'm 28 months post-op VSG and have lost about 120 lbs from my highest weight. I've decided to move forward with plastics, and the whole process is a little intimidating and A LOT overwhelming for me. I was under the impression I would need a panniculectomy... and that was about it; that everything else would kind of be gravy. I had a consultation with a surgeon last week. Mind you, I'm in NYC and this guy is a top doctor at a top city hospital... qualities I would obviously prefer in a surgeon doing extremely invasive cutting on my body. Now, I'm realistically aware that cosmetic surgeons are bred to be salespeople, and this guy really sold it. I immedia…

Anyone try laser skin tightening? I don't think I will need plastic surgery. My skin scars a lot, probably not worth it. I have lost 50 pounds with another 40ish to go. If I start now with some laser treatments maybe I will be less of a mess when I reach my goal? There are a few different kinds of laser treatments. Any suggestions?

Anyone tried this? The before and after shots of coolsculpting/body contouring look amazing. I don’t deal well with anathesia and surgery and I’m wondering if this could be a good option? I was thinking of just trying it on my arms to see if it helped. I suspect my stomach needs a tummy tuck.

  7. Had my procedures done Monday and the kind doctor did a revision of my fleur de lis scar and a bit of lipo to my mons. Sooo happy with my results. Was barely a 32b before I think I’ll be a 32c now She used 310 cc implants

  8. This is going to be awkward but I really can't handle asking someone in person. So perhaps you can help me with this matter. I recently got confused about my relationship due to my husband's sudden fetish in women with bigger boobs. However, though he doesn't seem to directly tell it to my face, he keeps on mentioning how beautiful a woman is with a very proportioned figure. I got big butts but I'm a cup A size. Now I was wondering if I could consider surgery to have bigger boobs. Because honestly, I feel like I'm losing my relationship because of this paranoia I'm having.

  10. I’m really torn about whether I need plastics as part of my journey. I can’t look at myself without clothes. It’s miserable. I’m single and can’t even contemplate dating. How would I explain? I look like a monster! My family don’t get it. They think it’s not needed. They say I look great (although I’ve never shown them the loose skin). I also don’t know if I can put myself through the pain of surgery. I think I have a low pain threshold or something. I don’t react well to anathesia. I’m squeamish. Morphine makes me nauseated. Then there’s the cost of plastics. I’m not exactly loaded. I don’t even know where it would end. My stomach, breasts and arms look t…

  12. Boston-based medical researchers published an article in 2017 ( https://jamanetwork.com/journals/jamafacialplasticsurgery/article-abstract/2688763 ) warning of Snapchat dysmorphia. The pervasiveness of filtered images of unattainably perfect pictures on apps like Snapchat can take a toll on one’s self-esteem, make one feel inadequate for not looking a certain way in the real world, and may even act as a trigger and lead to body dysmorphic disorder (BDD). Classified in 1987, BDD is an obsessive-compulsive preoccupation with perceived flaws in one’s appearance, impairing one’s functioning and often leading to repeated plastic surgery. Dysmorphia literally means ‘bad fo…

I just got approval from insurance for my tummy tuck and my arm lift. My plastic surgeon recommends doing both at the same time. Has anyone else done both? Pros? Cons? My only concern is my husband works full time 12 hour days and no family lives “nearby”...meaning within an hour from us...does it seem feasible that I’ll be okay alone all day? Thanks everyone for your input!

Its been almost a year since my surgery. I'm down to 204 pound and still slowly losing. I figure I'll be losing for at least another six months. I'd like to get down to about 180 pounds (I have a small frame). I've got a bit of loose skin around my middle. I'm hoping my skin will shrink enough that I won't really need plastic surgery. So my question is for folks several years out. When did you skin stop shrinking back?

  16. Hey yal! I had my pre-op appointment today for my plastics! Only 14 days to go! I am getting both arms done, plus a panniculectomy with tummy tuck. I know everyone is different, which makes results different for everyone as well but I still would like to see before and after photos. It keeps me encouraged to take this next step in my journey. Thank you all so much!

So....question- I am 4 yrs post op. I have always had very large 'assets' and because my mom never helped me get fitted for the right bra at the age of 10-11 when they most needed it, I've always had a serious droop (like totally southward). Now that I'm almost to my ultimate goal, i'm looking sad and deflated, albeit still small C size. I would love to have a serious reduction and lift, essentially to get to a small B. I know, most women would want a lift with implant, but I prefer a smaller size. Any ideas how this will be an option, and anyone here had something similar?

  18. Panniculectomy of my stomach is covered by my insurance, but it will not cover a tummy tuck because it is considered cosmetic. I will never show anyone my stomach and I have no intention over ever wearing a bikini because in my mind I always look like I did before I lost over 100 pounds. My BMI is now 24. Has anyone just done the Panniculectomy without the tummy tuck? Were you happy with the results? Thanks for the insight.

Some quarries are a bit more personal than others, but here goes... -Recovery time experiences for these procedures? I realize everyone is different, just trying to get a general idea of what to expect if things go forward. I will be 3 years post op October 8th. My starting weight was 282 and the day of vsg surgery I was 141. I quit smoking a few weeks before PS surgery. I have not been reimbursed as of yet for the surgeons portion however Dr Capella's staff did file my insurance and they paid for my anesthesia, operating room, and hospital stay. …

  30. Hey all, I've lost about 200 lbs in my WLS journey (first lap band, then revised to gastric sleeve) and back in 2015 had a lower body lift and arm lift. As I've since gender transitioned, I am now looking to have breast augmentation as well as a bra line lift to remove the excess skin on my back. Not sure if that's the same as an upper body lift / back lift? Has anyone had any experience with this procedure? It seems pretty uncommon in relation to how many people deal with loose skin around their backs. Thank you!

  34. Has anyone gotten by and been happy with less than a tummy tuck? I have had an apron since 1991. Got up over 195, and even now at 137, I still have a flap that covers my hip bones, and hangs down about 3 inches. I am pretty sure there is still a lot of fat in there vs just skin. above my belly button seems ok, but I wouldn't object if it were flatter. Right now, I can wear a size 4 shorts, but I still have a pooch so I cover it with a shirt. now that it's getting hot, the rashes are coming back. ~sigh~ Obviously a full TT is the best way to get it all tight, and flat. I had a T tummy tuck and full upper inner thigh lift along with a hernia repair on December 29th. The surgery was six hours and the doctor removed five pounds of skin. The surgery went great. The day after surgery my hemoglobin became low, which required a blood transfusion. For that reason, I stayed two nights in the hospital. I had a breast lift operation booked in December, but I was given incorrect information in the support group by the woman who runs the business. She is not qualified to give medical advice, and I believe this incorrect information was given in order to secure sales. I owe her big time for: 1) convincing me not to have my face done by the bariatric plastic surgeon who did our body lifts, and 2) preparing me that I would look like monster after my facelift. In the end, I got the most incredible amazing life-changing facelift from a FACIAL plastic surgeon, Dr. Catherine Winslow, and she was cheaper than my body contouring plastic surgeon wanted for the facelift who never could have done the work that she did. And I did not have an emotional breakdown when I woke up form surgery and looked like a monster... and slightly inhuman for weeks afterwards…
