Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery

Thinking about skin removal or cosmetic surgery after weight loss? Talk about tummy tucks, arm lifts, breast lifts, thigh lifts, and other post-WLS procedures.

  1. I am so incredibly excited. A little nervous, but mostly excited! June 12 I'm going in for my Lower body lift (belt lipectomy) and liposuction to my medial, anterior, and lateral thighs. I have waited so long for this, and it is finally here!! I had my pre-op with my surgeon on Friday, and she got me even more excited! She is really confident that this surgery is going to be hugely successful and the results will be amazing I ended up taking 5 weeks off from work to recover. In the midst of all of this, my husband and I are putting our house on the market, and will be moving to the east coast from Colorado sometime in August (my husband took a new position out tha…

  2. Ok, so I know most of us have questions, answers and issues about excess skin and the removal of it, so I'm going to ask a few and hope for some advice/info/suggestions. Let me start by telling you that my VSG was paid for by the state (Rhode Island) and Medicare., I had my surgery on April 18, 2016. I had been overweight/obese for too long, started gaining weight when I was 8/9 and am currently 43.., (being classified as obese for one day is too long), My doctor told me not long ago that having my apron removed would be covered by my insurance but nothing else would be, am not sure if they are incorrect about nothing else being covered but am definitely wondering if I…

I am obviously still focusing on mainly protein but was wondering what your diet looked like after having any type of plastic surgery? Hello everyone! I know I've been MIA for awhile but I haven't really had any updating to do. I'm still managing the same weight. I'm trying not to lose at this point since my PS said not to. What I have been doing is obsessing over my cosmetic surgeries coming up. I'm having a tummy tuck with muscle repair and some breast stuff. Its consumed my entire life for the last month and now it's almost here. I'm not going to lie I'm terrified and just now starting to get a slight bit excited. Most people seem to be ecstatic about it. I hate the thought of the pain and whole long recovery period. The results are going to be worth it right? I've paid, I'm going. I woke up on the "l…

I am not very happy about this last minute news I just got at 4 pm today. My tomorrow 7:30 am Breast reduction and FNG schedule has been cancelled. Now I have to schedule a Breast biopsy instead. They are saying I have a lump in my right breast. I am sure it is a fatty cyst but they will not do the surgery until the biopsy is done and comes back stating it is a cyst. I have had these cyst many times over the course of my 61 years and now that I am less than 24 hours before surgery they want to do a biopsy. Doesn't make sense to me. I had to do a lot of things to prepare for this including get substitute teachers and make up weeks of lessons plans, reports etc not to me…

Hey! So I am not at goal yet but when I get there I really want to get a breast life and augmentation to refill me breasts. My mom is very against it because she knows several people who got augmentations who are in pain all the time. They had it done after cancer though. Has anyone gotten it done and experienced pain nonstop after? I understand it will be painful right after, but this is long term pain she is talking about.

  14. Hello and Congrats to everyone! I know not everyone has a fantabulous insurance plan that will pay for all the plastics we want, so I wanted to ask everyone how have you dealt with your excess skin. There are so many myths about doing certain exercises, using body scrub to bring back elasticity etc., etc.., but truth being known, what has Really Worked? Personally, I have the flabby arms, the apron, and a big issue with my thighs (my thighs are very solid, but the excess skin makes me feel like a baby wearing a diaper).., not trying to sound gross or graphic, but am sure am not the only person who has thighs like that- and wants them Gone. So I guess basically what I am a…

  15. I had my surgery in November 2015. I am down 150 pounds and have surpassed my initial goal weight by 12 pounds. I am now going for the blue ribbon, and attempting to lose another 18 pounds. This would bring me much lower than I ever thought I could physically get, and it will be time for plastic surgery. Amazingly, for unrelated reasons, I just moved to Mexico. Of course, I will be doing a lot of research, but I always figured I would come to Mexico for plastics anyway. I am almost 40 and I'm not trying to get the body of a 20-year-old girl who never had weight problems, but it is my intention to get the Fluer-de-lei tummy tuck and to have my breasts lifted. Hi everyone, I've had consults with 2 different plastic surgeons and one surgeon won't do a TT/BL at the same time as it's 'too much t do at once' and the other will. The only 2 ops I've ever had are my bypass last year and gallbladder removal last week. I healed well after each operation, but struggled emotionally coming out of the anaesthetic. I hate the feeling! This makes me think it would be wise to do it in one operation....along with reducing the overall cost and recovery time. On the other hand, I'm worried the recovery will be too painful & I won't have a carer at my beck and call. I felt a better vibe/connection with the surgeon who wants…

Yesterday was 6 weeks post TT/LBL, which meant I no longer have to wear my compression garment. I didn't wear it to work (which turned into an 11 hour day), and within an hour I just started feeling weird… not bad, just weird. Maybe I'm just paranoid, but it kind of felt like my skin wanted to come apart at the seams! When I finally got home, I immediately (right after I checked to make sure that I hadn't actually split in half… incision looks fine!) put my compression garment back on & felt much better! I'm totally ok wearing this for as long as I need to, but I'm wondering how long it was before other folks felt ok without.

The doctor, (Dr. Stankevicius) was very kind and explained me the surgery very well. After the arrangements, I went to Lithuania and the surgery was perfectly done, and everything for a price much cheaper than the UK´s. A completely recommendable experience.

We are trying for a 360 lift, I have good reason, cause I get rashes in the back where I sweat a lot (TMI, but butt crack area ). She also believes I don't need much in way of a breast lift, just removal of some skin to tighten them up. She also thinks I don't need arms redone, but a little lipo she says will tighten my arm, and then I'm hoping for a little neck lift as well.. I'm so excited!
