*sigh*   O the Season is here for over eatting even for us who are banded,   Today and Yesterday we got droped off a Crap ton of Chacolate and Though I dont eat a lot of it, they had my Very favorit Kind! * O NO!*   So when i thought I was 20 pounds away from having lost 100 ...lets just say I'm fearful to go on the scales.   What is it about food and being happy? Anfd where the hell did my will power go to?     anyone got some tips for not diving head first into the Blissful season of over eating?

How Long Didi It Take You To Heal From Your Lapband???

Today is my day 13 after being banded and I have this red big red rings around my incisions, And swelling. But went to the Dr. They said lets do some blood work. And then they say..nope no infection. So Here I am, looking at the nurse:huh: , she doesn't know what is it. Other than saying it must be a Allergic reaction. So it does itch. So did anyone else have this? You can go look at my pics and see what I am talking about. But am I alone in this problem?

Rumor Has It

Today I would have to say was the best day of my life! I went to my appointment in Louisville, KY, today expecting that I would be seeing my Registered Nurse. Instead I saw everyone expect my surgeon, of course. I got to see my Psychiatrist, Dietician and my Registered Nurse. I thought that I would have to go back at different times to see them since I’ve read other people’s blogs and that’s what they’ve had to do. I was shocked when they sat me down and said I would be seeing all of them today. I love this place! They were all extremely nice and between each one of the specialists I had to see, the waiting time was less than ten minutes!   Today they gave me some more informational packets that are truly beneficial. They told me about the before, during and after procedures that would have to take place around my surgery, which I’m going for the LAP-BAND (REALIZE BAND). My surgeon mostly does the REALIZE BAND instead of the LAP-BAND AP system because the REALIZE BAND causes fewer problems because one size fits all.   Here is some beneficial information Norton Hospital gave me:   (For support groups, info about obesity)   American Obesity Association   http://www.obesity.org     American Society of Bariatric Surgeons (ASBS)   http://www.asbs.org     What to expect day of surgery:   Blood drawn – at surgeon’s expense   X-ray   Blood sugar testing   **All of the testing is made by what the surgeon orders prior to the surgery   I am literally too excited about January and the months that continue. I’m ready for my new life and I’m willing to go any distance to have it, within reason of course.     I’m going to continue to read this informational binder and put more details into my blog!

2nd fill

I just had my 2nd fill this past Saturday. I am feeling the restriction now. The doctor told me not to eat anything with white flour, white rice, and carbonated drinks because it will expand my new pouch.   So I've changed my diet. Today I ate popeye's chicken. I ate one leg and it was good!!! After I ate it my chest started hurting and I had a hard time breathing, omg what happened? is this normal? I'm not eating any more!

How is everyone doing??   Well its tuesday and it's been what 4 days since my surgery.... and I can honestly say that this is the first time that i'm saying.. i'm getting a little hungry now... hahahaha and liquids are not filling hahahaha Hmmmmm how fun. Well yesterday was the first night that I slept in my bed.... hahaha it was a little uncomfortable but it sure as hell beats sleeping on the recliner hahaha.. I wish I could go out and walk but it hasnt stopped raining since friday... and for anyone of you guys that live in SoCal.. you know this isnt SoCal at all.. but it sure as hell beats our normal California Christmas. 75-85degree christmas wearing shorts and tank tops   I think this year we are gonna be wearing pants and a light sweatshirt hahaha   But yeah I wish I could go out and walk but the rain needs to stop and its supposed to get worst later on today.   Oh well I guess I have to keep walking in the house.   Hope everyone is doing good.

I Know a Lot of Food is Tainted: It Taint For You and It Taint For Me

After two weeks of eating healthy foods and feeling the physical benefits, the above statement shouts it's truths to my energized mind and body. A balanced diet is not a cookie in each hand as I use to subscribe to. I know ,dear members, during this Holiday Weekend we are going to be tempted with all the trappings of failure as we encounter the riches of Christmas candies, pies, puddings and general Christmas treats. I am going to call this food group "tainted". I will not even consider eating "tainted" meat. It is poison to your system. And so it is with tempting Holiday treats. They are poison to our goals and resolve. If we label this food group as "TAINTED" , we will be less likely to succumb to it's temptation. This battle we fight is very much mental and I fight it with mental strategys. I hope this one will help you over the Holiday festivities. Blessings. Dolly

Officially two weeks...Nothing has been the same

Hey guys,     well it has been two weeks since my surgery (Dec 7) and I have to say that even though it has only been two weeks it has been quite a journey. I have lost 38 pounds so far!!!!!!!! Its insane because I've never lost that much weight before without giving up but this time is different and I am not giving up. I have been to work so far which makes my days go faster (still on protein shakes will be starting mushies in countdown...2days!!!!) . I know that most of the weight loss is attributed to the liquid diet but the fact that I've even had the will power to stay on liquids is amazing to myself. when it comes to hunger I'll be honest that I have not been hungry and have definitely had a hard time getting in the 60 grams of protein because I just feel so full. They say drink clear liquids in-between your shakes but that feels me up. I guess I shouldn't complain...but I def need to up my protein intake because I have been getting dizzy spells when I get up so I know thats attributed to the lack of protein.   NOW IF YOU ARE SENSITIVE PLEASE DO NOT CONTINUE READING AND SKIP THE NEXT SENTENCE! now I like to be honest and honest I will be...my only problem has been...going to the bathroom. Im used to going twice a day and I miss that satisfying feeling I feel every morning and night. It was pure discomfort and def made everything else pale in comparison.   Nevertheless, everything has been going wonderful. my incisions are healing and doing ok. sometimes I forget I even have the band like when I went to a party and brought the house down.   I will all the best to my fellow December bandsters, and to all my future bandsters trust me when I tell you and I didn't believe it before either but your day will be here before you know it.   always a pleasure

Last pre-opp visit tomorrow

As I meditate on the days events, my mind can't help but shift to tomorrow because it is my last pre-opp appointment before my surgery scheduled for January 3, 2011. I'm super excited. I have come from behind the vail and want to use my journey to help others. I have been exercising and even started some lighter foods in hopes that my system will not go into food shock when I have to do the liquids and soft foods for the first three or four weeks. I know that surgery is not the only answet, but rather it is part and parcel of a much larger picture, one that has me focusing on my eating, exercise, emotional, and psychological health. I wil post how the doctor's visit goes tomorrow. I'm already claiming the victory.   Happily   Theresa

I only lost 3.5 pounds between fill #1 and today..(2 weeks) not sure if that's normal or not - they seemed happy, so I guess I will be too. Am hoping it picks up a little more now...we shall see, I guess! I hope you are all doing well and have a very MERRY CHRISTMAS!!

Onederland and infections

I thought I had another infection starting in my belly button so I went to my Doctors. I got put on the scale and was down to 199. The doctor is so thrilled with me. He asked me what I was doing and I said, "I work out five times a week, just the elipitical and sometimes weights." I am so thrilled because I wanted to reach this by my birthday January 5. I am feeling great, though I think I need a good massage. LOL   I can't wait to get into smaller pants soon. So exciting AND even better, I have no infections, just a surface infection, nothing to worry about. SOOOO HAPPY. All of the working out is paying off.

Eating and Drinking

HI All   I have a question that I hope you don't think is too silly. I know we're not supposed to eat and drink. Wait 30 minutes after drinking to eat and 30 minutes after eating to drink again. Well I just had lunch and i soup and a half sandwich. It was a veggie soup with broth which made me wonder, is that the same as eating and drinking?   Thanks

One week out!

Well today is exactly one week from my surgery. I started out this process at 291. When I went in for surgery I was 255. When I stepped on the scale today I am at 243! So I have lost a total of 48 pounds since I began this journey back at the end of September. I have lost 12 pounds since surgery. So far everything has been really good. I am able to eat and drink and not get sick. Last night though I was getting stomach cramping after eating and also when I was drinking water. But this morning it hasn't happened. TMI...my BMs are weird. Liquid in and liquid out and all that jazz. I have heard to never trust a fart this early out and I do believe that is great advice! Back to a more pleasent topic....I finally have been able to sleep in my bed on my side. So the first few days I was sleeping in a comfy chair will like 8 pillows! I also was able to wash and dry my own hair this morning with little pain and discomfort. I have super long and thick hair so it is a pain! It has been raining cats and dogs here in Northern California so I haven't really been able to walk outside. Last night though there was a break in the weather so I went for a midnight walk and it was lovely. I also have gone to the mall to walk around which is okay just to get out of the apartment. I have one more week off from work so I want to relax and make the most of it! Each day gets better and better. I can't wait for next week when I should be able to start pureed foods. It will be amazing once I am back to eating regular foods and still lose weight!

3rd Fill----Sweet Spot?

I think after all of the putting fluid in/taking fluid out, I have finally hit my sweet spot. I feel restriction and I feel full for several hours in between meals. It's been nice. When I went to the doctor with for the 2nd fill and they overfilled me, I had some fluid taken out. I actually had less in there than with my first fill so I was very hungry. I gained several pounds back. But, with this fill, I have lost about 5 pounds this week, which was good. I have also noticed not only are my clothes starting to feel a bit looser, my pants also seem longer......anyone else have this? Strange!!! Other than busily scurrying to get last minute Christmas stuff together, life has been pretty vanilla. How is everyone else out there doing? Any good weight loss goals met recently?

Starving!!!

Well it has been a week since I have been banded and I must say it's not the way I thought it would be. I am starving!!!! I am sticking to the liquid diet like I should be but I am always hungry and I don't have any restriction. Is this normal??? Will I get the restriction I need once I get my fill?

The Phrase that Pays

I have to say, it's been a while since I last wrote anything. Not much has been going on in my life. I've went through another doctor's appointment in December 14, 2010. That was my fourth month, thank goodness! Time seems to be going by pretty quickly and I love it.   I'm the kind of person who loves list. I have OCD and I'm addicted to them. Recently, I have been making a list on what to expect these next two months. I know in my books they've got plenty of lists but this one is for me.   1. Researching more information – you can never be too prepared   2. Finding my BMI ( which is 48.7)   3. Learning on what to expect before and after the surgery   4. Mentally preparing myself – I've been wanting this for the last 3 years, there isn't much more preparing needed but it's definitely welcomed   5. Going to EMMI (my-emmi.com) **Highly recommended   6. Pros and Cons of surgery   7. What happens to my body   8. The surgery itself   9. My surgeon   This is just one of the small lists that I have going right now. I'm more excited as each day passes. I only have two more months to go and I'm hoping they will get here without any problems. I'm practically sitting at the edge of my seat. I'm kind of nervous about my surgeon though. When I went to the seminar, I knew that he was the right doctor for me immediately. He's the kind of doctor that doesn't listen to excuses and he's hard-headed. I need that. I want someone mean who will tell me what I'm doing wrong. This isn't the type of surgery where I want someone to hold my hand, it would only seem as another diet to me. I don't want him to take one look at me and decide I'm not really needing this, I'm now at 275 lbs. I need this badly; I'm only 17. On January 1, 2011, I will, finally, be 18 and be able to get the ball moving some more.   My next appointment is January 5, 2011. Its short notice compared to my last doctor's appointment in December but it was oneof the only times available they had and I was willing to take anything rather than wait until February and possible push this surgery back.   I'm excited about everything that has been going on. School has been perfect, I'm a senior, not much more to expect. Half of my year has gone by and I just can't wait to be perfect "normal." I don't want to be the odd person out anymore. I've come to realize that I don't have to "fit" in by anyone's standards. I can create my own but I was a normal last year and I'm hoping by the time May rolls around, I'll be able to be who I've always wanted to me. I need all the support I can get.

1-Week Post-Op

So it's Sunday night (Monday morning really)...it's been a week now. I am having more issues today and yesterday really than I did in my previous post. I WANT TO EAT!!! My doctor has me on THIN LIQUIDS for 2 weeks...it's his standard diet...I am ready to move on to THICK LIQUIDS. I have been reading all over this site and 100"s of you could have THICK LIQUIDS after you got home...so I'm making a decision to go to the next step a week early. I need to eat. I will die if I have to eat anymore jello...and chicken broth has got to go.   I did get some hard candy to suck on to take my mind off of my cravings. I think the sugar in it is making me gassy...I feel lots of gas moving up and down my esophogaus. I don't know what to do...I am not eating hardly anything...like maybe 4oz of broth and drinking water/crystal light. I have always LOVED oatmeal...so tomorrow...I'm making OATMEAL. I'm also going to move up to my thick soups and sugar-free puddings...etc. I will try and force the protein shakes down me...but it will take everything I got.   I also went into worry mode today...thinking I might never get to eat certain foods again...you know typical fattie mentalitly. But I have been reading on here that everyone gets to the point where they are "normal eaters" again for the most part...that's all I wanted to hear. If something makes me sick...then so be it...but at least I had the option to eat it.   I am totally loving the weight loss...but still adapting mentally to a new lifestyle. The mental game is going to be the hardest part...because I'm almost forced to eat right.   My goal for the next few days is at least 8oz of protein shake a day(I'm gagging just thinking about it). Wish Me Luck!!!
