Anyone struggling with liquid/stage 1 diet?

Recommended Posts

I'm just a week post-op and I am really struggling to get enough liquid down me. I too am sick of the sweet Protein Shakes, but unfortunately for me I've tried broths and thinned Soups and they taste revolting to me now (whereas before I'd always enjoyed soups). I'm also just about getting 75cl of Water down me per day (that's one of those medium Evian or Volvic water bottles with the sports cap). Thinking about taking more in really turns on me. I too don't know what to do!

I was the same, I'm now 3 weeks post op and I added sugar free squash in really early to my Water and that's how I get a good Fluid intake. I went off all tinned Soup so made my own lentil and carrots soup and added lots of bouillon for flavour so that's done my lunches for the past 2 weeks and is lovely. It's just trial and error for the first few weeks to try find foods that you enjoy and that go down easy. Good luck!

After surgery your body is in a major heal mode. Many people find it difficult to meet their Protein and Fluid requirements right after surgery. Just keep trying to up your numbers each day and you should be able to get there.

Be willing to experiment. After surgery, my taste buds changed dramatically. Even Water changed. In the hospital it tasted excessively chlorinated and I could not drink it. So I experimented. sugar free popsicles became my best friend. Some individuals find hot or cold can help with fluids. For me, I found that I could tolerate flavored water. So I began using Crystal Light. I also found a new drink Bai which I liked cold. In the winter, I found that I tolerate Hot drinks such as piping hot cocoa. But you have to use the "No Sugar Added" variety. Also fine English teas were very good.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
