Aetna/short term disability

Recommended Posts

Anyone else have issues with Aetna and their short term disability? They have been such a pain to work with! My surgery was on October 10, and my doctor had me out until The middle of November. Aetna only approved me until the end of this month. I have had to call them a million times and have the doctor office fax over additional clinical documentation. I have been calling all week and have been told they have what they need. Today the Aetna case manager calls to say they didn't get the correct notes. SO FRUSTRATED! He tells me despite what the date is the doctor gave him he will review and make a determination if o should go back??? What??? Aetna can go against the Doctors order???

With mine, they approved it based on an initial formula for whatever was keeping you out of work. Then, they extend it. In my case, they approved it for 4 weeks initially, and then they extended it for another week after we talked on the phone. I have a follow-up appointment with the doctor on November 1. They told me to have the doctor's office send the records of that visit and they would see about extending it until November 14 (the return to work date given by the doctor). From what I understand from my colleagues who have been in similar situations, they will approve it; I just had to go through this documentation.

I'm not sure how yours works, but if your doctors orders are reasonable, I can't imagine they'll say no in the end (even if they make you jump through some hoops).

Good luck!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
