Mostly good

.due to pre existing chronic pain issues and being on narcotics, and despite addressing this with surgeon in advance, pain is not being adequately managed.

I love my surgeon but I see , in the end, he just doesn't understand pain management in chronic pain patients and I even urged him to talk to my pain specialist. He declined yet he put me on the same dose of pain med he puts any patient on probably figuring my regular maintenance pain med would manage the rest

..it doesn't work that way

The surgeon on call is worse. He upped the med by . two!!! And added a pulse ox monitor as if I'm going to stop breathing! Omg

Ok rant over ..I've had to hold in the tears to keep from physically stressing my body

On the good side, I've walked twice around the floor and I'm I'm a private room

I've had visitors, encouraging ones.. so outside of pain, I'm pleased

The gas pain though...omg is killing me in the ribs under the breast bone. What's up with that?! Quite miserable

No food or liquid yet

And I lost 18 lbs on the liquid diet last week!!

Sorry hope you feel better. How are you feeling now? How is your pain?

well. Apparently the surgeon on call moved the doses closer together by an hour so that has helped some...

Took a midnight walk ..

Still can't sleep bc of gas pains...and hospital beds... well lol although the mattress is like the leg air wraps so that's kinda nice.lol

Glad you are on the loser's bench now! Congratulations!

The gas pain you are feeling, under the ribs/breast bone are the remnants of the surgical gas that was used to stretch your abdominal area to enable the surgeon to see inside you and perform the op with clear vision of your organs.

It goes away, walking helps.

I've read that the surgeons remove this gas prior stitching patients up, but obviously this does not work in every case....

I had the worst gas pains, in my ribs and upper shoulder when I had my gall bladder removed, years ago.

After VSG I was surprised I did not have any gas pains, as I was dreading it.

I am glad that your pain issues are getting addressed better.

Wishing you a smooth and easy recovery, @@Butterflywarrior

Sent from my LGLS992 using the BariatricPal App

like @@OzRoo said, gas is pumped in ur gut ...gas x is for the bowels and stuff..it doesn't really address that...

The nurse told me that ad well

. sometimes the docs rx if but it doesn't really work they just want to make the patient happy lol

Sighhhhh

You will feel better soon. The day of surgery and the first two days post-op were pure hell for me. But, by the third day, I started to rebound and feel much better. Getting our and around in the world (within reason) was key to my recovery in those early days.

Wanna join you there, so we could hold hands or do laps together. Guess all I can do is send love at this point, but in the words of the 60s song My Day will come, next month I think is it. Prayers also sent your way. Rosey

Allow yourself to cry a little...purges toxins and reduces stress. I'm scheduled for December...are reg gas meds not allowed? Phazyme and such?

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
