Best decision I ever made!

Recommended Posts

My name is Jennifer, I am 36, and I have 3 kids. It was so difficult to do things with my kids and I would struggle just trying to go on bike rides with them. I felt ashamed and ashamed for my kids. I couldn't even walk up stairs without taking a break halfway up. I couldn't stand for too long and had to sit down. I would breathe heavy. Oh and because I'm so short, I had to put my seat so close to my steering wheel in my car and my belly would hit it all the time, that was embarrassing. I wanted to show my kids that being healthy was important.

I made my life changing decision February of this year. I had my laparoscopic Gastric Bypass surgery April 19th 2016 and it's the best decision I ever made! On the day of my surgery, I weighed 244 pounds. Today, I weigh 169. My family and my neighbors tell me I'm melting away everytime they see me. Such an amazing feeling to hear them say that. I feel amazing! I know it's still going to be a long road but I am thankful to have this new start in my life.

I am now an ABA therapist for kids with Autism and a Distributor for Itworks! Global. Before I joined itworks!, I experimented with using their tummy wraps, greens and stretch mark cream because I had loose skin from losing so much weight. Let me tell you, best things I've ever used. I loved my results so much that I decided to become a distributor and help others who are going through the same thing as myself. Promoting products would be hard to do unless you actually use them yourself so I use my before and after pictures to show my progress.

I now can go on bike rides with my children and run up those stairs of mine and I feel great! If you are even just thinking about doing the surgery, I can just tell you that for me it's the best decision I've ever made. I know I have a long journey still to come and would love to share my journey with everyone along the way. Thank you so much for taking the time to read my journey. :)post-300748-14746760142856_thumb.jpg

Wow Jennifer, that's so funny! My goal is 120 because I'm so short lol. You will do amazing on your journey. My advice, just follow doctors orders or else you won't be healthy and things won't go smoothly. Vitamins, Water, and Protein most important. I hope to be able to follow your journey. Maybe we can keep in touch?

Thank you everyone for your well wishes! I totally forgot I wrote an update here... I'm one week post op today. I gained 15 lbs in water weight overnight because they had to give me tons of fluids to bring my BP up after surgery! I stayed one night in the hospital. Everything has been fine except I seem to have picked up a bug while I was there and I've been running a low grade fever, coughing, and a sore throat. So I've been hydrating well and sleeping a ton. So far the Covid tests are negative.
I haven't been able to advance my diet past purees. Everything I eat other than tofu makes me choke and feels like trying to swallow rocks. They warned me it would get worse before it gets better, so lets hope this is all normal. I have my follow up on Monday so we'll see. Living on shakes and soup again is not fun. I had enough of them the first time!! LOL

Still purging all of the larger clothing. This morning, a shirt that I ADORED wearing ended up on top. Hard to let it go, but it was also hard to let go of those habits that also no longer serve my highest good. Onward and upward!

Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!
