Has anyone developed allergies post-op?

Recommended Posts

Hi All, I'm 10 weeks post-op and this week I literally walked outside 4 days ago and the areas of my skin that were exposed (my face, forearms, and chest) immediately formed tiny itchy bumps. I've had several allergies since childhood and have taken Zyrtec daily once diagnosed.

From Googling it sounds like I might have a Sun Allergy which I don't think I have ever heard of before but, I noticed my sun exposed skin started to itch and form tiny bumps again yesterday.

Any ideas? Calling my primary care physician on Monday but trying to see if this is normal?

Are you taking any medications? Some meds react to sunlight that way. Reread any med info from your pharmacy and see if that's the culprit.

Went to pcp & notified surgeon's office. It appears to have been a sun sensitivity from the Ursodiol. My PCP gave me some prescription cream from the breakout and my surgeon's NP told me to stop the ursodiol as there is no substitution for this med.

Thanks. Feel much better now.

I got bumps on my neck, chest, and arms from my last surgery. They don't know why, kinda think it was a one dose antibiotic they gave me by IV in the OR.

I had hives, small red bumps. It looked rashy, so I called the dr. And he had me take Benedryl for a couple weeks.

I'd go get it checked though!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
