When I went to my 2nd appointment with my new PCP I advise her that I would need a letter of recommendation and support for WLS. She seemed as if she had no idea as to why she would need to write it. So I sent her a message via the hospital's messaging system. She sent me a message back saying that she would include it in my paperwork. Here is the message I sent and please tell me if I should do an actual letter with more detail. post-270653-14551643576535_thumb.jpg

Is this letter something your Bariatric team is requiring? My team only required that my PCP was aware that I was proceeding with WLS.

Of course when the time came she also performed my pre op physical.

From the looks of your message she should have enough information. Your insurance company might require medical records from your previous PCP showing that you have been obese for a period of time.

Good luck with everything!

When I went to the Bariatric Center they stated that I need this for insurance. I have Medicare as my insurance

my insurance required a letter from my PCP as well. What you wrote to her is fine - I'm guessing those are the kinds of things they're looking for in the letter from her - that you've been overweight for awhile, that you've tried various diets, that you're having some obesity-related issues, and that she recommends the surgery. The details you included in your message are great - if she includes those in her letter as well, I would think your case would be even stronger. Perfect!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
