So at first I wanted to get the sleeve but I would have to go to a Military treatment facility to get it done and that is 6 hours away. I am now leaning towards the bypass. I am scared I am going to get denied by insurance though for not being big enough. We just moved to Louisiana from Germany so I have a new PCM. Going to make an appointment hopefully for this week. I am 5'6 and half and my weight is currently 242. Which makes my bmi 39ish. I don't think I have any other co factors that they require. I have PCOS, fatty liver, incontinence, and last time I was checked (5yrs ago) I was pre-diabetic. Anyone else with Tricare Prime south? Just looking to here your story, from first visit on.

Hello and congrats on your approval! I have Tricare Prime also. I just started my process 2 weeks ago. I went to my PCM and got the referral, went to the seminar and lifestyle class and also have done my psychological exam. It all happened so fast :).

My question is: About how long was your process with Tricare?

I have Tricare Standard South region. I took myself off of prime 10 years ago because it is so inflexible. Basically, with standard their requirements are whatever your surgeons office requires. After my surgeons office submitted, approval was back within 1 week. I had RNY. They don't approve for sleeve. You have to go to the MTF for that as you have said. Best of luck

Thanks! I saw my pcm end of May for referral to surgeon and have tentative surgery date July 29th. Tricare has been awesome no trouble with them at all. Once my surgeons office submitted it to them it took 4 days to approve and most of those days were over the holiday weekend.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
