I am in the process of getting my surgery date next week and I feel so unprepared! I don't know where to start with what to get for the liquid diet or how I'm going to explain this to my family( we have kept this to our selves the last few months until I can get a date). I had a meeting with my nutritionist today and I feel like I could be behind but when I filled out the check lists I was on track. So if anyone can give me some recipes or good Vitamins or stuff like that I would be so grateful! Thank you in advance for any words of encouragement and help.

I just got a tub of Protein powder, different flavors of Crystal Light, and some low sodium bullion cubes. Are you doing a liquid pre-op? I had 3 Protein drinks a day, and as much of any other flavored Water or broth that I wanted.

You need to call you nutritionist back and have her walk you through this. You should have been given instructions on what to look for in a Protein powder or shake and at least an over view of what to look for in a Protein Powder. I was told at least 15 gms of protien and no more than 6 gms of sugar. I was also instructed on what Vitamins to take.

Everyone's program is different. What is okay by my doctor, may not be what your doctor wants you to do. If you are unclear you need to make them explain it to you so you understand.

One thing I would recommend is not buying more than 2 weeks worth of whatever Protein you decided on. Sometimes your taste changes after surgery and what your thought you liked now taste absolutely disgusting. My program provides us a handbook that outlines the process from start to finish. It had recommends brands of protein as well as Vitamins. I taste tested Proteins for a good 2 weeks prior to surgery before choosing the ones I used.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
