1st day pre-op diet - ugh!

Recommended Posts

So I know I shouldn't complain because surgery is Friday and I only have 5 more days of this but still, I'm hungry! Does it get easier??

It's pretty tough...My doc let me throw in a chicken breast if I just needed food. Not sure what your pre-op diet is, but because my BMI was under 40, I got to have 1 meal a day with 3 shakes. My meal was either 4oz of chicken breast or fish and 1/2 cup veggies. I was allowed to have coffee and tea too, so that helped.

It helped me to stay busy - with work, volunteering, seeing friends and family. The days when I had down time were the worst. Try to make extra plans (that don't involve eating!) Meeting friends at cafés for tea and coffee was a nice social diversion.

Plus, like everything in life, it'll be over before you know it and you'll be wondering where all the time went!

Good luck!

Yep. Flew by. Down 9 pounds. Surgery today and now at home. Gas pain was crazy but I kept walking around and that has subsided. Belly pain sucks but is tolerable. And now on to a couple more weeks of a liquid diet! Thx all for your comments. I'm now part of the club ????

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
