Post-Surgery Abdominal Surgery Recommendations (Austin, TX)

Recommended Posts

Hello All,

I had weight loss surgery 3 years ago and lost about 140lbs. I am at a stable goal weight and tried by best to lose weight in a way not to have too much excess skin left, but of course there is some. My main problem area is my stomach. I work out now so able to handle most of the other places fairly well, but there's no way to get my abs to "bulk up" enough to make a dent in the excess skin. I don't need anything fancy, I just want to feel comfortable with my shirt off at the beach or pool with my kids. Does anyone have any recommendations of which type of surgery I should be looking into and does anyone happen to know of any good places in the Austin, TX area that could perform such a surgery. I’ve tried research online but get overwhelmed with all the options, adds, clinics, etc. I’ve include a picture so you can get an idea of what I am working with.

Thank you in advance!

I live in Austin as well, though I'm no where near being ready for plastics yet. Have you tried askig your wls surgeons office for recommendations? They deal with those kind of questions all the time and can probably help you narrow down your choices and give you more insight on how their previous patients have done.

Good luck!

If it is just the skin on your stomach that you are concerned with, a Tummy Tuck (abdominoplasty) is all you would need. Most tummy tucks also include muscle repair, but you would ask your potential surgeon about that.

I'm sorry I can't help you with surgeons in your area. I had my tummy tuck done in Mexico.

I had an abdominoplasty last week as part of a larger plastic surgery and the website realself.com was very helpful to me during the research stage. You can find surgeons in your area, read their reviews, and also read through all of the reviews that other people who are comparable to you post about their surgical experience. They don't have any ads and the accounts are verified as being real people, so it can really help you find an excellent surgeon without all of the hassle of using a search engine. Good luck!

You are so close to one of the most amazing surgeons in this country who specializes in WSL patients Dr. Peter Fisher in San Antonio....I was just up there yesterday and had it not been a weekend I would have gone over to his office for a consult. I live in AZ but if I could swing a recovery in TX I would use him. Check his work on realself.com it's stunning....

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
