Sleeve to bypass surgery on January 8th

Recommended Posts

I am scheduled for sleeve to bypass surgery January 8th. I am very nervous. I have bile reflux which causes me to vomit many times a day. I, also, have a hiatal hernia. Has anyone heard of anything else that can be done to correct this problem? It seems soooo extreme. Other than this problem, I love my sleeve. I am 5 years out and weigh 135 lbs (5'4").

So, you're having bypass surgery in order to treat a hiatal hernia although you already have the sleeve & appear to be at a normal weight range? Correct? It does seem extreme. I don't understand why your doctor would choose to do this? Maybe I'm missing something? Is it to bypass the hernia altogether rather than remove or repair it? Have you gotten a 2nd opinion? Hope it works out for you though.

The hiatal hernia will be repaired during the bypass surgery. The surgery is to fix the bile reflux problem (different from acid reflux). I have heard others on here who have been converted from sleeve to bypass for the same issue, different doctors. I was hoping to find out if anyone has done something less drastic for severe bile reflux. I had the hernia repaired with the first surgery, so I don't think just sewing it up, again, will fix the problem. Our stomach is too small to do a funelplication (spelling ?). Still scheduled for the 8th.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
