This is why I'm dying for a soda

Here's the reason I can't quit soda (though I haven't had one in about 2 weeks.) This stack is just 5 steps outside my office door. It's unavoidable since I have to pass it on the way to the copy and fax room 95 times a day. And the fridge is stuffed with more soda.

It's killing me! I'm sipping my stupid low-sodium broth with my back up diet ice tea, but I want 9 cans of soda!

We only have 9 employees in this office, and several are part time. The attorneys are usually in court, so it's just me and those sodas. It's torture. Add that to Erin making pizza and heaping, steaming plates of eggrolls and french toast sausage sandwiches at 8:30 a.m. and you can probably appreciate why I was slugging down those sodas! FREE, mass quantities. Evil.

Broth tastes like warm liver juice. Can't I have just one (pallet) of soda?

You would be too disruptive to the staff. It's hard to buckle the straight jackets when you are laughing that hard.

Fake Rat Poop? Hmmmm. Let me work on that for you...

Rene, don't even think of squeezing fudge brownies through a colander, either. First, we have a Fudge Nose here that can sniff out chocolate from across the building, but worse, you'll plug the holes and cloud transmission. So no fudgey rat turds.

Lisa-

When no one is looking, sneak over and abitrarily shake up as many of those cans as you can. Put them back in random order. Do they tempt you as much when you don't know what could happen when you pick up a can and open it??

And does it make you feel better that you know Erin is going to pick up least one of those cans??

:-)

Lisa -

I love diet pepsi soooo much - I know how you feel. I used to think silly things like "will there be diet pepsi in heaven" (for real) I used to give it up for Lent and that would be the only time I went without it.

My dietician has figured out that it is my lack of drinking diet pepsi that has me dehydrated because I certainly don't drink the same amount of Water or anything else since quitting diet pepsi this last Lent season when I was getting ready for surgery. I know how you feel. If I wasn't so scared, I would have one right now. (I even took a small sip of DH diet pepsi this afternoon....it tasted kinda sweet)

Try to associate the diet pepsi with the worst thing you can imagine. Maybe call it by the name of the person you like least, think of it as if you are doing your least favorite chore, associate the diet pepsi with anything that will turn you off.....this will help to kill the desire you have for it. Right now you are obsessing over it - like a lover being kept from his/her object of desire.....that is never good.

Try this - maybe this will give you the edge you need to shake this.....

Good Luck, Nancy

My poison of choice was Regular Coke. After surgery I gave it up. But what I also did was buy a 12 pack of Coke and put it in the fridge. Yes in my fridge. Why? Because I am showing it I am stronger then it, it just sits there and I am the one with the power to either drink it or not. The 12 pack is still there and knowing it is there and for the taking makes me stronger in resisting it. Also when I think back about how long I have been off of it, it strengthens my resolve. Also after a few months of being off of it-I have totally lost all desire to drink it. So now the 12 pack is more of a trophy of Victory then anything else. I wonder how long those cans will still be good for? Maybe I should get a new 12 pack and give those cans of poison out with the next visitors?

Hey Lisa! I know it totally sucks to see all those sodas! I am the one who buys for my office and I have Cokes, Diet Cokes, A & W Rootbeer, 7UP and Brisk Ised Tea...But! I found that Propel Fitness Water is a great getaway from the sodas! And they taste great! Plus have vitamins. So, I buy those for me! Maybe you should try some of those and maybe even talk to the person who handles the buying for your office and see if maybe they would consider buying something a little more healthier for the office as a whole. The cases of Propel are about $10 each...and that is not a bad price at all! Heck! Even a few cases of juices would benefit them as well. And as far as the broth that you have to drink...have you tried the Soup at Hand? The Cream of Potato is great!! And so is the Creamy Chicken Cup of Soup packets! Yum! And as far as drinking sodas myself...I have done well staying away from them but I will take a swig every now and then of my hubby's just for the taste of it. If I want something sweet to drink, I will drink some OJ or tea...or drink a glass of skim milk just to drink it instead of water just to take a break from it. Take care!

I'm a few feet from the kitchen at work, and I just heard a bunch of commotion in there. Some marketing rep showed up with a stack of calendars, pens and tons of Halloween candy. Fine, I know it's there, I can avoid it. So I walk by and snatch a calendar then run away. Five minutes later, ERIN SKIPS into my office eating a candy bar, shoves one in front of me and says, "LOOK, THERE'S chocolate HERE."

In shock, I had no response but a look on my face that said, "Is this really happening?"

(Shhh, as I'm typing this she's back in the kitchen grabbing more, clunk, she dropped one on the floor - 5 second rule though. I watched her shove some in her pockets... maybe it's all gone now.)

Mmm, chewable Vitamin & SF gum. I shoulda told her,"I'm sticking to Gum cause I don't like being fat."

That would be SO funny. You should do it... BUT you have to set up a webcam so we can see the look on her face!

I just can't believe she wont quit bugging you.

She can't possibly be DENSE enough not to realize that you don't want this constant parade of food, can she? I mean, could ANYBODY be that dense?

I would have to just put a big sign on my door that says "NO ERINS ALLOWED BEYOND THIS POINT"

OH MY GOSH! Jack, that's the answer! I'm getting a blow horn. Better yet, one of those clown horns (don't want to get fired) and I'll do some reverse psychology. Every time Erin mentions food, I'll do a TOOT TOOT as praise. I'm almost at that breaking point to do it, too.

But in all honesty, I'm sending a reminder home to make a very "office acceptable" sign for my door. I'll start keeping my door closed, and the entire firm will soon know what a rotten thing she's been doing.

Something like this:

PLEASE - NO FOOD BEYOND THIS DOOR

I'm having a rough time with weight loss.

Please don't tempt me with holiday treats, Snacks or sodas.

Thank you.

He DeLarla;

Take small tootsie rolls unrap them and put them around the soda; It looks like a small dogs poop. It might work. Of course don't eat the tootsie rolls. After you unrap them throw them on the ground so they get dirty and you won't eat them.
