Eating the wrong food and not losing weight...
I am with ya! I have been banded since 09-05 and I stopped losing in 04-06 around the time I went on a camping trip and I had to eat differently that weekend and never got back on track. That is also the same time I stopped exercising. But I have started exercising this week, again! And my body is so sore!!! But it is a good sore! And I am trying to eat better, I just hope that I haven't messed anything up (slippage) by not eating the right things. I had a fill on 07-12-06 and it is the tightest I have been and I can eat almost anything...what is up with that?? So I am going to do my best and I am going to go through my pantry and get rid of stuff that I have brought back in to the house and get it out! So far today I have had about 4 cups of coffee (yes, 4!) one bottle of water, for breakfast a sausage, egg, cheese biscuit from McD's and they messed up my order and I didn't know until I got to work! :angry That was not what I wanted but I ate the egg, sausage and part of biscuit. For lunch...I ran to Walmart and bought some bell peppers! I have been craving bell peppers bad lately. So I sliced up a red and orange pepper and dipped them in dessing. That was lunch! I guess there are worse things to crave (chocolate!) I just pray that the bad stuff that I have been eating has not made something bad happen to my band. I feel fine, no pain but I have gained about 4-5 pounds back. :think So add those pounds back to the ticker......:angry . Worried too....any advice for me, anyone?

Alcohol?
I waited about a month after surgery but be careful if your 'cold ones' are beers...anything carbonated too fast will hurt... sip it or switch to something else. That is what my doc told me.

Alcohol?
I love this topic everytime it comes around!! No I am not a drunk but I am a chick that loves hanging with her hubby and friends and having a good time!! As far as what to drink...anything you want but careful of the frozen sugary drinks that have tons of calories!!! I usually have a gin and tonic and sip it (let the bubbles go down), a dirty martini w/olives, a bloody mary or my newest concoction....Crystal Light Lemonade and Vodka or Crystal Light Punch with Jack Daniels...if you are going to someone's house make either of these drinks in the bottles they come in and throw them in the freezer a couple of hours before you go out to get them nice and cold. I usually mix 2 of the singles of Crystal Light to one 16oz. bottle of water. Drink the water down to right above the label and then fill the rest with the liquor. It is really good and if you think about it....you are getting in your water and having a damn good time to boot! :Banane40: Don't worry about the reception at the wedding....have a drink and have a good time and Kate27....make the Crystal Light drinks and throw them in a cooler and you are set for tailgating girl! Have a great time and be carefull!!! And watch out for those after drinking breakfasts!!! Have a couple eggs and maybe a slice of bacon but don't try to eat that stack of pancakes in a drunken state of mind.....not good!!!! I usually do some eggs and grits and coffee and I am fine! Party on girls!!!!! :rose:  :cocktail: :P :Banane40: :Banane59:

My sweetie is not happy about this
My husband's first wife had a gastric bypass done and lost the weight, cheated and left him. The thing about my husband is that he loved me before and he loves me now and always said that the weight didn't matter to him and that he supported me to have the surgery for my health and he also felt that with her and still she left him. On the other hand, she did it for the vanity of it. She says she was starting to have health problems but as far as I know...the only problems she started to have were psychotic! She is the type of person that lives in her own fantasy world and that the world revolves around her. She also lied to everyone and said she lost that much weight by dieting. A very vain person. But with that said...and having lost weight...you will be eye candy again to other men and as long as the both of you are secure in your relationship then everything will be fine. I love my husband and he loves me and we just fit the right way and it works out. Good luck to you.

Midnight Snack Anyone???/
I usually have late at night SF popsicles, Jell-o or pudding...that helps.

Salads.
Ok....I am sure this has been asked before but can anyone put away a salad like you aren't even banded? I can eat a salad with no problem! It can have all kinds of veggies in it and it still slides right on through. Is that a bad thing? Just curious because I eat alot of salads, almost everyday and each time we go to dinner, I opt for a salad instead. Anyone else deal with this?

Can you eat chicken?
I can eat chicken as long as it isn't breaded and is cut into small bites and chewed well. And it also has to be with some type of sauce....not dry.

Compliment Chain
BigPaul always makes me feel really good about myself. He's funny and silly but really smart right when you need him to be. DeLarla TellyMelly keeps me motivated on days I think I want to slack and theres always a smile on my face when I'm talking to her, she just keeps me laughing. She brightens my day! Cutiern reminds me of my daughter. I love how she is young, independent, and willing to make financial sacrifices to change her life. Dawg is a great husband. Selfless and supportive. He lives a banded lifestyle, without the band, so that he may succeed along side his wife. Pennie always seems so level-headed and diplomatic. I really admire that. Jack cracks me up with the use of his warped sense of humour in the manner in which he offers practical advice. Humour and practicalilty...great match and I always appreciate his input. (I also like his avatar!!) The best me (Kathy) has one of the most loving and tender hearts I've ever seen. She is always caring and giving to others even when she's needing support for herself. Her love of God and her desire to be a better servant shows in every post. Paula is my sweet Band-daughter and I'm so proud of how genuinely sweet she is and how her caring heart and love of God shows by her actions towards all others Iluvharleys has a good heart and is always so thoughtful, kind and caring always thinking of others in their time of need. NJChick (Eileen) Cracks me up!!!! She brings a smile to my face no matter what the topic. Bandland would be a boring place without her : - ) VinesQueen reminds me never to give up no matter how bad things seem at the time and encourages me that I should dance my heart out no matter whos watching~and I wish she would hurry up and get back on LBT!!! Michelle, without a doubt the most inspirational person to me. Even while having her own family problems, she finds time to come here and offer her help. She's a great person! Susan (PhotoNut) is one of the most supportive and knowledgeable people I've ever known. EmileeKaye is the sweetest, most genuinely nice and wholehearted bandster and online personality I have ever met.. and I have met quite a few. The sun shines on her goodness and it feels really nice to surround myself with people like this. K@t has been my friend and support since the moment I joined this group. She listens and gives without asking in return and makes me feel anything is possible. DeLarla is my vision of independence, strength, wisdom and trust and has always been a person that speaks her mind and has gained a tremendous amount of respect from me as an intelligent and witty person. StrawartS is smart and funny, and she has the strong personality I admire, yet she's kind. Plus, her screen name is a Palindrome. It's spelled the same backward and forward. Very Cool. Kathy (best me) Jenna (princess n thep) is always honest and straight foward. And she is a great booty dancer. Kathy was kind and gentle with me when I was cursing over my first PB. I was shocked by her generous spirit at first, but now I see that that's how she treats everyone. And her baby is pretty cute. And I don't even like babies. The NJ Board: I can't chose just one person because so many have come to my rescue. They give their heart and soul and they do it with compasion and love. *Cheers NJ Board, I Love You ALL* Since I have known Mychevygirl (DeAnn), she has shown incredible inner strength, focus and determination in the midst of extremely trying times. She has kept a positive, happy attitude in spite of the stresses she has endured, and she has a smile that shines through her words because it comes from her heart. FunnyDuddies is a beautiful, intelligent, loving woman who's quit witt and sense of humor is a blessing to those around her. She makes me smile, and I feel so bless to call her my sis. She has also earned my respect and admiration for showing a deep inner strength during times of adversity. MoOrless is another one of my personal inspirers. She has lost weight all on her own. Reading her posts have been a great eye opener, showing me that weight loss is nothing more than willpower and self-control, which she displays very well. She cheers me on as I do my wild goose chases with myself and she keeps me motivated, letting me know daily that every goal I set for myself, no matter how outlandish it may seem, is very possible and attainable. I thank her for believing in me, (a complete stranger). Alex is the best thing ever...he has given us this board as a place to learn, laugh, commiserate, cry,...pretty much whatever we are in need of!! And...he just keeps making it better!!! Thanks, Alex!!!!!!! I have to have a second go at this! MoOrless keeps me going in ways I never thought I'd need. She is working and trying so hard to lose the weight on her own as well as coping with health problems. She finds positive ways around her setbacks that put me to shame and motivate me all at the same time. Kind words and thoughts for others come easily to her and she makes me smile. Alexandra seems to always be there when a thread gets hairy. She has the ability to listen with an open mind and heart, to sympathize and give a reality check in just a few short lines. I have noticed that she remains detached, but flexible. Harleynana (Pat) is one of the smartest, kindest people I have ever met. She talks like a sweet southern belle, but she's also a tough cookie who is generous and supportive without fail. And to all the NJ Chat gals who welcomed me into their midst even though I live in Michigan - your support and friendship has meant the world to me. I love this board. It makes me laugh. It makes me think. It makes me mad. It inspires me. It give me good ideas. It gives me advice. Most of all, it makes me feel I am not alone in this struggle, that I am part of a community with one goal... to reclaim our health and our lives... to live better, and be better. We may not always see eye to eye, but we are all better for knowing each other. mini_me is in my book! Nana~ (aka "plunderbunny") inspires me with her carefree attitude. Because of her, I wore my Pirate gear when we went to see the new Pirates movie. Your style and panache inspire me to be me. (Vinesqueen) Vinesqueen is an absolute treasure. She has the most amazing ability to be enviably strong yet human, in the face of outstanding challenges. She always takes time to remind that's it's health first, and that our health supercedes everything, including our weight. Plus her journal really rocks. She's a jewel! There's a lot of people on here that have inspired me and some of them have already been mentioned so I think I would pick JMO and KMO, they have both been very inspiring to me along with everyone else. These 2 rock. oooh i always read post by jack and wheetin they always have so much helpful info!!! La Madam always encourages me through her strength of will and personality. I have never for a moment doubted that she will be able to maintain even if she is "flying solo." There are people who claim to be straight talkers, and then there is the real deal, La Madam aka Michelle (Vinesqueen) Kabeerah has always impressed me with her quiet strength. She has gone against the prevailing customs of her culture in getting the Band. She’s been an amazing resource for the women in her country, translating information. (Vinesqueen New Sho whether she knows it or not has been an inspiration to me. She always posts informative well written posts and isnt afraid to say what she thinks. I admire her "online" personality. A1ikou has been the best listener and help to me even when times have been really hard she doesn't try to push me or shove any tough love on me because she know's it won't work...plus..shes in Greece...how cool is that??? All the above mentioned people have been a great inspiration and helpful in times of need...this was a nice thread to read. :clap2: Bettina~I have seen her on the boards before but I just actually "met" her today and we both have something in common~a great sex life! LOL! And we are both witchy women! I have respect for everyone on this forum and have enjoyed talking to everyone and going on this journey with them. And I can't forget to mention~Heathergurl! Fellow Texan...she always makes me laugh and is as sweet as she can be! (Kathy473)

band over half full and still little restriction
Same here....I just had a fill not too long ago and I feel like I can eat and eat and eat!!! I get the damn muchies from hell!! Like nothing fills me up and then there are days where WHOA! There it is!!! I get restriction. I think part of my problem is food choices. I try to stay safe eating foods that are soft instead of foods that have substance like chicken, fish and veggies. But I have been adding more foods that have a little bulk like boiled eggs and bacon for breakfast instead of oatmeal or grits. I noticed I stayed full longer when I had that. Hope your cousin gets everything straightened out!

Medic Alert Bracelets - Are they recommended?
I have the silver bracelet with the Red cross on it....and I get asked alot what it is for. It has by name, dr name, his office number, Gastric Band, date of banding. The bracelet that I have is from American Medical-ID site and is the one on the front page in the middle. To me the more it looks like an actual medical bracelet instead of being fashionable the better. If it's fancy then a medical professional might not look at it. So, don't think about the fashion part, think of your health first. http://www.americanmedical-id.com/marketplace/details.php?prodid=1089134115&usersession=Y9TWVG9C http://www.n-styleid.com/

Yeah, I wish the guys from Miami Ink would have been there. Kat was there as an independent artist. She owns a few other tattoo shops and the one that is also pictured "Elm Street Tattoos" is one of her shops. It would have been great to see the other guys!! - Pics from our tattoo convention!
