My Kids Are Noticing

My kids have never said anything about my weight. They are great. However, Tuesday night I was doing some pre-Thanksgiving cooking and my niece had my kids. When she brought them home, I went to the door (I had an apron on over my clothes), and my oldest shouted, "Mom! You're skinny!" It was completely spontaneous and so honest in that kid sort of way. I'll admit to shedding a few tears of joy when she then ran up to me and put her arms all the way around me. I know my kids don't love me for what I weigh, but the spontaneity of her comment left me speechless and helped me know that I'm doing this for all the right reasons--so that I'll one day be able to watch my girls grow into beautiful young ladies who become wonderful mothers, and I can be there to enjoy it all!

Aww! Your post actually made me cry! (in a good way of course!). I am so happy for you. After all kids are as honest as they get. They will be the first to shout - "look at the fat lady mom!" or my niece says "you are not fat..you are fluffy!" lol

So to hear that coming from a kids mouth and the fact that its your own kid..that must be amazing. You know that they are so proud of you and you should be too!

have a great weekend skinny mom

Stacy

sooo sweet! I am getting misty! My son notices every time I dress up. He is 2 and he says "Mamma's a lady". ha ha I can't wait to see how he reacts to the skinny

My great-nieces noticed me on T-day and said that I was losing some of my "cushions." Children will put it exactly where it's at and pull no bones. They can be so sweet sometimes and it seems that your child is especially sweet to you.

My oldest is 21 and wasn't very supportive of the surgery. However a month ago I showed up at her work to surprise her, and she was like "OMG" I said what? and her comment was, you have shape, not just round, you have hips and a waist, you really are losing.

Found out later from my 19 yo that my 21yo is worried that I will be smaller than her. Well guess what, I am almost there. Oldest is a juniors 15 and I am a juniors 17, not much more to go. I have lost 55 lbs so far in almost 6 months, and only 45 more to go.

My family knows about my surgery, but some of the nieces and nephews are too young to know any better--the most surprising comment I got was on Sunday from my nephew who is 12 and mildly autistic. He said "Aunt Ellen, you've lost a lot of weight, you can really tell." And I just said "yes, I have, thank you for noticing!" That almost made me cry just because at that age and mentality I never expected him to say anything, much less something so mature.

It's nice to finally get some really good comments instead of nothing at all or something behind the back from strangers...

Out of the mouths of babes...

congrates on your progress!
