  1. I will be finally purging my closet in a couple of of weeks. We are going to be moving in a couple months, and I am not taking it if it doesn't fit properly. I have about 4 pair of jeans now, and a couple pair of capri's. I have a ton of shirts, and a few pair of shorts. I just started a new job, and after I get some electronics that I desperatly need like my new phone and laptop, I will be updating with some more clothes. HOWEVER, not too many because we are moving from FL to TN, and it will almost be winter time. I want to be able to buy the clothes then that will fit me then. I know I will be smaller than a 14 at the time, just not sure how much smaller. I have not had a band adjustment since October, and now that I am working, I will be able to afford one. YAHOO!!! Time to get that sweet spot back and get this band working properly again!!

No- No to bread, pasta and rice why??

Once a month i eat a little bit of pasta, a little bit of rice and a little bit of potato, not as often will i have a little bit of bread, ate a meal at olive garden last month, had 1/3 a bread stick. Ate at my fav hangout a while ago, had 1/2 a garlic roll. That is all I will do, otherwise it is total protein and maybe a small salad. At my hangout, i get a side order of 2 meatballs with mozzerella on top and some sauce, it is awesome, I eat for less than $3 and am satisfied.

    Eraser-sized bite-sized pieces???

Someone asked about mayo in tuna, well what i use instead of mayo is greek yogurt. It adds protein to the mix, has the same consistency and if you make a ranch did with the yogurt it is even better.

I am still waiting to get my wii, my birthday party is tomorrow night, so maybe I will get lucky, everyone knows I want one.

    Protein Shots anyone??

I use the ones from Walmart when I can afford to buy them. I mix them with crystal lite and they are not bad at all. I do have 2 atkins drinks a day, and eat enough protein to be able to get in 100-125 g a day of protein. No problem with hair falling out, and I really think this was helping me lose more weight when I was using these daily. Now i plan on going back to the bullets because I have hit a plateau. I am 10 months out and 67 lbs down.
  6. I was banded 10 months ago today... I have "only" lost 67 lbs, lets see that is 6.7 lbs per month I have "only lost 67 lbs, that is 1.56 lbs per week I have "only" lost 67 lbs, that is .02 lbs per day I have "only" lost 67 lbs, that is .009 lbs per hour I have "only" lost 67 lbs, that is .0001 lbs per minute I have "only" lost 67 lbs, that is .000006 lbs per second but you know what I HAVE GAINED MY LIFE BACK!!!

    A horrible night...

I had the same thing 3 weeks ago, it was awful. Lasted 12 hours then I put myself on liquids for 2 days. Take it easy and life will get better.
  8. Erin, you are still at home, why are you not on your parents insurance?
  9. I have been at a stall for months. I am 10 months out as this Friday, and have lost 67 lbs, but i have been here since Valentines Day. I am so frustrated. I know that I need a fill, I have not had one since October 12, as I lost my job 2 weeks later and lost my insurance also. I will get a fill in June however, and I am so ready to get the lbs dropping again. I have lost 25 lbs since my last fill, that has me happy.

    So Upset

I told everyone about my band, why because I don't care who knows and who doesn't. I have a lot of overweight friends, and in the 9 months that I have had my band, one has had RNY and another is being banded next month, with a couple more looking into it also. I figure it this way, at least if something happens to me, and I am with them, they can tell the paramedics that I have the band, and can not use an ng tube, or have nsaids. I have made this clear with everyone also, and am supposed to get a medicalert bracelet for my birthday so I will have it on at all times. Stop fighting with the husband, mom let the cat out, hubby had to pick up the pieces, there are enough things to fight over in this world, and who knows and who does not know about surgery is a small one.

    Thinking about a cruise

As someone who also loves cruising, and has been on 3 cruises since my surgery in June, take a little bit of time to get used to your band before you go. Also, while there are deals, you are not going to get a deal like your thinking of out of NYC. Lowest prices right now for a 5 night starts at $319 plus taxes per person, for an inside room in September. Sorry the travel agent in me had to check.
  12. My dog sits next to me on the floor just staring, he will sit up and beg, and I remind him to wait until the full point hits. He then lays down, as soon as I hit that spot, the food is pushed onto a paper plate and given to him. I am happy for not pushing myself, he is happy for being able to have some of my good food, and my band is happy because I stopped before I started hurting.

    Program Fee

That is how the doc gets more money than what he is contracted with the insurance company for. I know when I had my surgery the bill was $42k total, but insurance paid the contracted rate of $12k total. So they were out $30k. Personally if the surgeon tried to this, I would have found another surgeon, they contract with the insurance companies at a set rate, that is what they have agreed to accept for the surgery, I can't believe that the insurance company will go along with this program fee issue.

    Stuck, did someone say STUCKED!

This happened to me at Sonny's BBQ a couple weeks ago, but it was green beans, needless to say I have not had the beans there again since!
  15. Bread, Pasta, Potatoes, no problem, drinking my sweet tea when out to dinner, PROBLEM. Now I get a drink, have it until the meal comes, then when my food comes i move it aside. I do keep it handy for an emergency though.
  16. Typically a meal lasts 20-25 minutes. Like someone else said after that the band is starting to empty so could over eat. Doc said that after 25 minutes it is grazing not just eating a meal. I stick to that.

Do you have a goal prize?

Going on a cruise on the Norwegian Epic when I hit goal, I can't wait. I set mini goals for myself and so far doing well. Every 20 lbs i get my manicure, at 50 lbs I went on the NCL Sky for 4 nights, and then did the Crown Princess for 7 nights. We did the 75 lbs early as i am 9 lbs away from hitting that goal but it was Busch Gardens, however it was also a Valentines gift.

    Please be honest with me.....

Sounds like you paid for the tool, but didn't want to use it properly to make it work. I for one however would not have gone through this for 20-40 lbs that is sure.

    16 Fills and no restriction

I also have a 10cc band, however I have 6.5cc's in it now, and have not had a fill since October. I am very much in the zone of needing a fill, eating too much at a meal and hungry again not too long after. I have had 3 fills to get me to this point. It is very possible due to the fact that you were having such small fills 1/4 to 1/2 cc at a time, you have not reached proper zone yet, and need a new fill.

    Protein Shots

I have used these since surgery last june, when I am going to be out, and want something for the protein, but don't feel like eating. I also reuse the tubes as they hold one scoop of powder perfectly, and then I can mix that on the go also. They were great for me on my last cruise, while I did have a couple of "drinks" and added some fruity protein to it to compensate for the rum in the drink.

    Bummer...

If you are able to eat rice, pasta, lasagna potatoes things like that and not getting stuck on it, you probably have not reached restriction yet. or are taking such small bites that it may be sliding right through, but these items are not typically in the slider category. Soup, icecream, yogurt, they are more of the slider type because they do not have density to stop at the pass.

    Bummer...

Mike loves spagetti, and his skinny body can handle it, so when I make it for him, I made a mixture for myself of ricotta, cottage cheese and shredded mozzerella with a scoop of greek yogurt, mix it all together, put sauce over the top and then a slice of provolone. I then nuke it long enough to melt the provolone. This is as close to lasagna as I care to get as pasta will get stuck almost everytime, and I want to keep losing, not fight the carb monster. I have been eating it this way since surgery in june, and love it.

My Husband Is Driving me Nuts!

I went to resturaunts with Mike and the kids when I was in the pre and post op liquid phase. I had liquids while there. I would order soup or something that i knew I could have. IF we were going to a wings place which we did a couple of times, I knew I couldn't have anything there, so I brought a protein drink with me, there was no problem. Maybe it is will power, maybe it is wanting this to work so bad that I just did it. Either way, I am not going to make others change just becuase I did.

My Husband Is Driving me Nuts!

Looked in the pantry just now, cheeto's, dorito's, several types of little debbie snacks, cheese danish's, yep they are all there. Those are Mikes. Beneath that shelf is mine, protein powders, protein bars, almonds, pecans, simply naked pita crisps, crystal lite packets in 10 flavors, sugar free koolaid mixes and sugar free oreo's. If I want something I have it, as long as it is on MY shelf. Same thing with the fridge, one shelf is mine, greek yogurt, cottage cheese, babybel and laughing cow cheeses as well as several other items. This works for us, and I figure it this way, the world with continue on just because I had surgery doesn't mean everyone else did. I did this for me, and my heath, so that when the time comes and my girls have my grandkids I can be healthy enough to play with them, not be sick all the time like my mom was.

    I don't understand!!!

I love my band, I am 8 months 9 days post op, and down 66 lbs as of Saturday. I am now 199 lbs down from 265, I did have a slow down for November and December, but I attribute that to not having a fill since October and 2 cruises and alot of vacation time. In the mean time, I still have not have a fill since October, but I have gone back to basics, upped my protein intake and eat 2 full meals a day, as well as 2 or 3 high prtein snacks and 3 or 4 protein drinks. Heck Christmas day I was squeezing into a 16 stretch jeans with a body shaper on, yesterday I wore a non stretchy pair of 12's without the body shaper. in the mean time 9 months ago I was squeezing into a 22/24. The band is not for everyone, however if you are going to get it, you have to be prepared to work it, it will not do all the work for you.
