How soon did you return to work?

I had surgery on Friday and went back to work on Tuesday, that Tuesday was tough but by Wednesday I was fine. I have a desk job so I just made sure I got up and walked around more than usual.

My surgery was on Thurs (10/22) - had to stay overnight because of a hiatal hernia - and went to work on Monday, but I did cut the day short at 6 hrs instead of 8. I also work in an office/sit at a desk all day. I know I wasn't supposed to, but I also helped rake our yard the Sat. after surgery. I was careful not to overdo.

Everyone is different. I happen to be lucky enough that I get thru things like this with very little problems. I'm on soft food now and haven't found anything I can't eat (yet). I have my first fill on 12/1. I, too, feel like I don't eat much and should be losing more, but have decided to be happy it's coming off - and not going on! I'm probably getting 1000-1200 cal. per day and have lost 22 lbs.

Good luck!

I am an RN and work 12 hour nights so my doctor wants me to take off 2 weeks and I can only go back then if I promise not to lift, pull or tug on patients. The hospital I work at is where I had surgery so several of my co-workers have been banded and have already told me if I come back and do too much they will kick my butt! I am really lucky to have good support at work.

I just got banded last Thursday and I'm in a lot of pain. I can't imagine going back on the 26th like I'm supposed to.

I had my surgery on a Saturday afternoon. I remember looking at the clock when I got back to my room after surgery and it was 4:10pm. Went back to work Monday morning. The pain from surgery wasnt that bad but it was the gas in my lungs and body that really bothered me.

Not sure how soon is too soon, but I had my surgery 10/7 and my doctor didn't allow me to go back to work until the 10/26.

I took off one week per Doctor's orders. It was probably about the right amount of time. I'm glad I didn't take off any extra - all the follow up appointments for fills are using a lot of sick leave and I like to maintain a LOT Of sick leave in case of emergencies later.

Good luck to you!

I had surgery on Monday, released from hospital on Tuesday and made it back to my 10:30am class on Wednesday. Started bartending again that Saturday. Everything went really well just be sure to have your Water handy and do nothing overly strenuous. Good luck!

My procedure was on a Friday so I took that day, of course. And Monday I was still taking pain meds and sleepy - very sleepy - so I took off that day.

Tuesday, I worked from home. I could have gone in but I wanted to be close to home just in case I was still sleepy or needed something.

But I went back to work on Wednesday - no problems. I was fine. In retrospect, I would have been fine on Tuesday had I gone to the office.

My job is really sedentary too. I think for me, it was stopping the pain meds that made it possible to really focus on work. If I was still taking them, I have a feeling I would have been drowsy and it wouldn't have gone as well.

I had surgery last Wednesday and had planned on coming back to work on Monday but didn't feel up to it (port incision pain and abdominal gas). I'm in today and I am uncomfortable, but okay.

I had surgery last Thursday and I came back to work yesterday (Monday). I'm a teacher and moving around all day. I've been lucky and I think this whole experience has been easy for me.

Are you able to just play it by ear? Plan on a couple of weeks and then go back earlier if you feel like it?

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
