Dr. Douglas Krahn - I love Dr. Krahn

Recommended Posts

Dr. Douglas Krahn did my lap-band surgery in April 2009, and I have enjoyed being his patient. His bedside manner is very comfortable, and he is dedicated to each patient to make the band work to the best of it's ability. I have lost 70 pounds since my surgery, and he has always been so good at guiding me in the right direction diet wise. I HIGHLY recomend him if you are considering having lap-band surgery in the Inland Empire. His staff is incredible, and I get excited when I have an appointment because I love seeing all his staff and meeting new fellow lap-banders.

I haven't had the surgery yet but it will be soon, my insurance, informed me they have received my referral. I am anxious to get this party started. I believe Dr. Krahn is the best one to do the surgery.

Hi cherrygirl85, I've wanted the lapband for a while, and today came across your post in a websearch, i joined the forum and made an appt with Dr Krahn. My stats are just like yours 5'5", 315 lbs, although im starting to think thats just where the scales top out, cuz i feel like i've been piling on weight lately. Anyway, thanks for the inspiration. I've never been this excited to go to the Dr.

Hey madpassion!!!! WELCOME! That is too cool! You are so well on your way! You will look and feel sooooo much better. Dr. Krahn is an AWESOME surgeon who really cares. He may seem kinda "stiff" at first, but make him laugh and he loosens up =]

ANY questions you have about this whole journey, please feel free to ask away! I work swing shift, so the hours I reply may be a little odd =P

Can't wait to chat more!

Hi Folks-

My wife is in the process of getting the Lap-Band with Dr. Krahn. However, she is having trouble finding a psychiatrist or psychologist that will do a bariatric psych evaluation. We have Blue Cross-Blue Shield. If anyone can recommend someone, please let me know.

Johnnie, how awesome for your wife!!! Okay, this was the part of the pre-op that was the most challenging.

I went to a lady literally across the street from Rancho Speciality Hospital. I also have the same insurance. That lady's name is: Georgina Lamphere PhD. Here is her website with contact info:http://havenpsych.com/html/georgina_lamphere__ph_d_.html.

She is sooooo suer nice! She just asks some stuff about your life to make sure you can mentally handle the surgery. She said "you seem great and I guess I won't be seeing you again unless you ever want to come back and talk about anything."

Good luck to you!

Steph, WELCOME! How awesome that you decided to do something really good for yourself. This will be awesome for you - you won't regret it! If I can help you with any questions, please don't hesitate to ask! Message me, and I can give you my private email address. I had the surgery a little over a year ago. I started at 5'5" and 330lbs. Right now I'm down to 230. I'm so happy with my results so far and look sooooo much better than I did!

Hope to hear from ya soon!

Pink,

Sorry that I am so delayed on responding. Dr Krahn is the best one around if you ask me. I may be a lil partial to him though :) I had surgery about a year and a half ago and have had no complications. I have lost 112 pounds, and am SO happy with the results that I have seen with the help of the band. Dr. Krahn is a very busy man, but every time I see him I appreciate that he doesnt rush me in and out. He always remembers me and his bedside manner is superb. His staff is very helpful and always friendly. I hope that you at least meet him and consider him to do your surgery. You won't regret it!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
