What else have you lost?

Recommended Posts

I have lost:

- From my highest weight, the equivalent of my good friend Jesse (5'3" - about 104 lbs).

- My fear that the seatbelt on the plane won't fit.

- That I won't be able to go anywhere (like an amusement park) that I can't fit into the seat.

- A lot of "matronly" clothes that I used to think looked good on me (what?)

- The uneasiness of seeing someone I haven't seen in awhile and wondering what they think I look like.

- A heck of alot of self-loathing.

- The pain in my right knee.

- A reason why I didn't want to go to the gym (for fear people would wonder what I'm doing there because it wasn't working for me). What a vicious cycle. Not wanting to go for the very reason you should!

- Disapproving looks and comments.

- The fear of getting older.

My closet full of clothes - it is so empty now

My fear that everyone in the gym is asking what in the world that girl is doing here.

My need to compensate with humor so people would like me - I realize now how much I relied on that.

My chins

My fear of calf high boots (they all fit now... :)

My fear of shopping

My fear of tank tops

I have Lost:

1. The feeling that I can't wait to sit down after walking anywhere because I'm tired.

2. The inability to tie my shoes easily--I can now put one foot on the opposite knee to tie them.

3. Swollen ankles

4. A blood pressure medication.

5. Fear of hearing a chair creak when I sit on it.

6. The feeling that I don't deserve to go places because I take up too much space.

I am only 10 days post op.. and am already seeing the benefits!

I have lost - dry mouth from diabetes.

I have lost - frequent thirst from diabetes.

I have lost - frequent urination from diabetes.

This was my entire reason for having surgery, getting healthy, and even if I never get to my goal weight, losing these side effects make it all worth it!

I have lost:

  • My inability to find confidence to shine, wherever I go.
  • My High Blood Pressure.
  • The sense to always back down (guess that falls under confidence again).
  • My size 28/3X Clothes. Now I’m an 18/XL.
  • My keys many times, but I don’t get winded lookin for em.
  • About 100 Lbs.
  • The fear that I might not fit into a chair or possibly break them!
  • The deep crevice that was on my old mattress and it hasn’t returned!
  • My Size 10W shoes. Now I’m a 9M.
  • That laziness and procrastination that used to fill up my motivation.
  • My mind trying to take off this last half!

It’s all good people, keep them comin! What an awesome motivational thread. J

That's a great idea! Start the thread, I'll comment! Probably more than once - I realize new things that I have gained almost daily :-)

I lost my best friend. We both struggled with our weight and it's something we bonded over for many years but she started to begrudge the fact that I was doing something pro-active to improve the quality of my life and kept referring to the lap-band procedure as unhealthy and superficial which is not something someone 1 week post op wants to hear.

Amen sister! You keep doing what you need to do for you. Your friend will either come around, or she won't. I am sorry about your loss, but . . . good for you.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
