stress kicks my band butt

Recommended Posts

I am surprised how stress can throw me out of whack, my body revvs up, and I have to totally force it to slow down. I've been much tighter for longer in the day when I am under a lot of stress, and try relaxation techniques, but they don't always help. I've just kept more Protein Shakes on hand...but wondered if everyone has this? (I had to fly to FL to be with my dad, who was in ICU for more than a week, then flying back my big program deadline is hitting today...so it's hard to take care of onesself even with swimming and exercising.)

I am just trying to breathe, in...out...in...

I totally agree. Whenever I get upset with my husband, step-kids or boss, I am always tighter. I'm not sure what causes it, but I have to take it easy and try to relax before I can even attempt to eat anything.

I am presently having the opposite issue. I am stressed and, old habits die hard. I am eating because I am stressed and not because I am hungry. I ate TOO much yesterday and today.

Strange how much our bodies change with stress.

It is so crazy how our bodies manifest stress. I have only been banded a little over a week, so I haven't had the stress restriction yet....but around the time I decided to have the surgery, I was also trying to get into school, not to mention work and just everyday stresses. Well according to my dermatologist that is what caused both my hands and feet to be completely covered in painful blisters!! It was awful!! But he said it was stress, crazy! It took about 3 weeks to completely heal with medicine & peeling. I used to get really awful stomach aches when I got totally stressed, and am now wondering how that will affect my band if that happens....I'm guessing I will feel tight like you described. Stress is such an ugly thing, but it's so hard to shake!! :tongue2:

I am having the same problems. When I am stressed I am so much tighter and I want to eat like I used to. I just try to eat Jello or something that isn't bad for me and keep on going. Good luck!

I just received my first fill last Thursday but have been very stressed for the last few weeks. So far I haven't noticed anything with the band... I hope I don't?

I need to really try to make sure I get my exercise in.. I went to the gym today and felt much more relaxed. It makes such a difference in my stress level.

Stress is a killer... truly.. I have to try to keep it out of my life!!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
