First, it's dangerous to compare your loss to others' losses. Each person's body is different, so each person's weight loss will be different. Second, 17 pounds lost in two months (8 weeks) averages to about 2 pounds per week--whichi is the recommended weight loss for LB surgery patients. Third, at two months, your restriction is minimal at best, so you're eating more now than you will be.

Please rejoice that you are now 17 lbs lighter in 2 months time! We're all on this road together, and celebrating each others' losses will get us all to the end of the road eventually. Beating ourselves up that we are not losing as fast as someone else will leave us feeling defeated.

You go girl!

MsFab...listen to Grandma, you didn't ONLY lose 17 lbs...YOU LOST 17 LBS...! Congratulations! I know it's hard sometimes, but try to stay positive even 1 lbs off is an accomplishment, and it's one a lot of people don't understand unless they are right there with you. Keep up the great work.

It has been just a little over 9 weeks since my MLS.

I have lost a total of 30 lbs. (8 of those was pre-op)

I can relate to how you feel. After doing something as extrem as WLS and paying out so much $$ self-pay, I want it all off right now!

I am just trying to accept the fact that this is more weight than I have lost in a very long time and it will keep coming off and stay off this time!

Keep your chin up. It will happen for you and 1 year from now you will be one of the people who posts that you have lost 100 lbs!

Journal the foods you are eating and see what your calorie count per day is. You may realize you aren't eating enough. You are steadily losing, so that is a good thing. If you lose 1-2 lbs per week, and it continues, that will be great! I have had 3 different plateaus and the last one lasted 3 months. But I realized that pre-banding, I would have gained during those three months, not stayed the same. This is for the long haul, it is a journey and you are doing great! Celebrate you successes.

Oh, and eat more if you aren't consuming enough!:( If you exercise daily, you should probably eat at least 1200 calories per day. Many times we eat 1000 or less and think that is the only way to go. I eat/ate 1200-1500 per day, even during my plateau.

I'm doing the same thing right now.. making the mistake of comparing myself to some of the "super losers". The avg. wt. loss is 1.5-3# per week so you are SO on target! There's 52 weeks in a year... think of where you will be at the end. I am trying to do that myself and no compare myself to the mega losers or gastric bypass people.

I have a girl at work that came up to me- and asked me VERY loudly how much I had lost on my 1st day back at work. I would def. keep this a secret on a do over.. How RUDE is that!?!? Somebody on here said they didn't tell since they've seen how poeple watch everything somebody eats when they know... I'm starting to relate to that. I don't even go out for lunch with the group now to ensure I don't have to deal with that! Sorry , got of topic... can you tell how irked I am!?

You're doing great!

At 2 months out I was down 24 pounds, 8 of which were pre-surgery. My doc was super happy with my wt loss and I was too. I am now nearly 3 months out and am down 33 lbs. I have mini goals, to lose 8 lbs per month, but if it doesn't happen I just keep working. I want to lose 60 more and my goal is to lose it within 8 months. Slow but steady wins the race, right?

I am proud of you and everyone else who has made this choice to become healthier. I know it is hard to watch the weight come off slowly, but focus on how you look different and how your clothes fit differently (make a big deal of your non-scale victories), you are doing great girl, keep it up!

I am feeling you pain. I had surgery on August 12, 2009. I have lost 22 lbs total. I didn't have to do a pre diet. But the one thing I'm able to do, that I couldn't do before is walk 5 miles every morning. I am exercising and still at a plateau. I just want to keep the lbs dropping even if it's 1-2 pounds a week. I am hoping to get my first fill within the next couple of weeks. My doctor was adamant about not getting a fill before 6 to 8 weeks after surgery. Good luck to you and don't give up.

I know how you feel. I had my surgery July 28th and have only lost 23lbs so far. I get my 2nd fill the 23rd so hopefully the weight will start to melt off. I am exercising most days and am trying to watch what I eat. It is a little harder than what I thought but I will not give up. As long as I get regular fills(as needed), watch what I eat and be more physicaly motivated then I can not fail and I am happy with that....

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
