Has anyone ever converted from the band to gastric with Tricare? Do they cover it?

I am in Alaska Ft Richardson here

I'm just curious if anyone has had their band removed and then got gastric I was banded in 2009 I have an apt with my surgeon to discuss if this is even possible with Tricare insurance Any advice would be helpful

Does anyone know (I am in Alaska with Tricare) if they will pay to have the band removed and the sleeve done? I had my initial surgery off base because at the time on base didn't do the surgery Any info is appreciated

I was banded in July 2009. I started at 250 lbs and sit now between 170-180. I've been as low as 149. Ive had 6 fills and 2 unfills. My question is why did you switch from band to sleeve? Did you not lose weight, did you have complications??? Did your insurance pay for a second surgery? Once your not considered "obese" anymore will your insurance ever consider paying to convert? I just have so many questions. I have an apt to talk to my surgeon but can't see him for 4 more weeks...

My port is flipped also. Not to the extent of a 180. He has to go in from the side and it hurts like crazy.

Ok I'm chiming in. My husband of 12 years loves to do it. I don't mind because he is VERY good at it. But the one thing he asks me to do that I will flat out refuse to do I'd to "sit on his face". LOL. I just can't bring myself to do it. My thighs have excess skin from my weightloss and I would surely smother him with it. Bahahaha.

Ugh. That's not appealing. Lol. But I will def look it up.

I had a slip early last year. It's hard to keep any food down and everything gets stuck. My surgeon just took some fluid out, and I was on a liquid diet for 2 weeks. The negative was I gained 30 lbs back since then. I think for all those months I couldn't eat, I lost a lot of weight but the second I could eat again, I started gaining. Plus I quit smoking. . But I need to learn everything all over again I feel like. I've got good restriction, I just need to make better choices and more exercise.

I had my surgery July 09 and tricare paid 100%. Im in Alaska and my doc is awesome. I'm 5'4" and was 252 lbs and lost 10 before surgery. I didn't qualify at first cause I was 239 lbs. I know it's sad but I gained 13 lbs to qualify. I did have high blood pressure at that time also

My problem is I'm lactose intolerant. Most protein shakes, even the powder has lactose. I can't have soy either.

I'm 3 years banded and when I get really hungry I have the gas pains in my shoulder still.

I'm going to try the 5 day pouch test. I'm hoping it will help me get back on track and focused. Has anyone tried taking some sort of supplement to help with energy? I need a boost for my metabolism. Something to get me out of this slump.

I've looked on amazon and can't order it till Dec 12th. That's the release date!

Try getting papaya enzymes. Gnc sells them in Chewable form. It breaks down proteins. I use it anytime I'm stuck. But it only works with proteins.

I'm pretty sure my band is 15cc and its at a 9cc.

They did 2 fills since taking it out last year. I was in size 8/10 and now have to buy new clothes in a size 12. I know thats better than the 20 i was before but it is still depressing.

I was banded July 2009. I statred out at 252 lbs and lost over 100 lbs. I got down to 147 lbs.. I was on top of the world. Until my band had slipped. I had gotten some fluid taken out to help it fall back into place. I was able to eat more comfortably. Then I had decided to get even healthier by quitting smoking. I quit in January of this year and have put back on 30 lbs. I'm so afraid this is just the start of a downfall.. so of course with the weight gain my self loathing is back and the depression is starting to set in again.... HELP, What do I do?????

I am a military spouse and had my surgery in july 2009. To date I have lost 97 lbs but have gained 15 of that back. I quit smoking lol I am on the path to lose that 15. I have heard from other people that with Tricare thy require a 6 month diet thing before proceeding with the surgery. When I had mine done it was not required. I wish you the best of luck. OK... So I had my surgery last year and to date I have lost 80 lbs. Well recently my husband has been having some insecurities. I know I have changed only because I have gotten my self confidence back and am feeling good about myself. But he acts as if I am showing off for other people and that one day I will leave him for someone else. We have been together for 11 years and have been married for 9. All this is causing us to drift apart and it is scaring the hell out of me. I am wondering if I was still fat would he still be having these issues. I just want to know how other are dealing with the weight loss...

These are my before and after. I am down 60 lbs. This has been a tough year for me but the weight is coming off slowly but surely!!!

The reason I ask this is because after I eat(dinner)I can look down at my belly and see my stomach protruding a little bit right where my port is. Does anyone else see this? I have pretty good restriction right now but am a little worried. I might go to the doc and ask but I would like to know if this has happened to ayone else.....
