I waited 5 days. Doc didn't give me any type of restriction. I dunno if I could have waited any longer... LOL

Are you still having gas pains in your shoulder too? I am too. It is worse if I am hungery or if I have eaten to much. I am damned if I do and damned if I don't. LOL Granted I don't get the gas pains as bad as I used to but as soon as I think they are gone forever, here they come back....

I was wondering if the doc will give me my first fill even though I have lost 21 lbs in 5 weeks? I go next week for my fill. I do have some restriction but not like I should. I have been waiting 6 weeks for this and I will be mad if he says no. If I can lose 21 lbs in 5 weeks with barely no restriction, I can't wait till I get full restriction..... Jennifer

I know what you mean. One day I was standing in the kitchen with my hubby and I went to get a couple Fig Newtons. 2 to be exact. Well he looked at me and said. "Tisk tisk tisk you shouldn't be eating that" I said "There is only 1.5 grams of fat and only 90 cal in 2 fig newtons" He was like like "Whatever, its your decision" I was so pissed off I crumbled the cookies up and threw them at him and left. I had to leave for work anyway. Maybe I was more mad at myself, but usually I could literally sit down and eat a sleeve of fig newtons. And now all I was having was 2. He hasn't said anything to me like that since then.... LOL I have another friend who everytime I see them they ask me "How much weight have you lost?" I am only 4 weeks out and it is sort of annoying. I have lost 16 lbs, so I feel pretty good about it but the way she asks kind of gets on my nerves. I told her my real weight loss will start after I get a fill. Then I had to explain to her what a fill was and stuff. She only knows about gastric and I think she is compairing. I get my fill in 2 weeks so hopefully the weight will start dropping better and I can rub it into her face... LOL I probably won't but it would be funny... Kind of... LOL Jennifer

I was banded July 28th and will be having my first fill Sept. 9th. I wish it would have been sooner but I have almost lost 20 lbs since surgery, so I am actually happy with that. Just hoping that when I get my first fill the weight will come off faster....LOL Jennifer

If you don't mind me asking.. What is the couch to 5k challenge?? I have a tredmill and an elliptical at home. I usually do those at home and then do my walk/run in the evenings. I don't have the funds right now to do the gym. Plus I work through the week and my kids are in school so it would be hard for me to get to the gym anyway. I have lost almost 20 lbs and Tuesday was my 3 week since surgery....

I was given morphine in the hospital. I have never had it before either. They give it to you in such a low dose that there isn't such a loopy feeling. I just slept afterwards. They gave me morphine every 4 hours. When I went home they gave me liquid Vicoden(sp). It wasn't really bad. I was super sad when I ran out of my liquid vicoden... LOL but I am glad I did have it. I haven't thrown up but I wanted to so bad the other night. I had some awful heartburn and I know its bad but before the band the only way to get rid of the acid in my tummy was to vomit it up. Well I had my hiatal hernia fixed during surgery so I thought the reflux would stop. I was kind of freak'n out cause I didn't know what to do. I called the doc after 3 days of this painful refulx just to find he was on vacation. But to my suprise he called me back and I went to his office and got prevacid. I took it for one day and no more heartburn. Thanks goodness cause I was on the verge of making myself vomit to release the pain. But I was so scared.... Jennifer

Gas-X won't really work because the gas is not in your actual stomic.. It is in your stomic cavity.... The gas just has to work out..... Walking usually helps...

I know how you feel. I was banded 7/28 and I am still having bad spells with the shoulder pain. It just comes out of no where. I know it is from the gas and we should walk walk walk. That is all everyone says. It isn't as bad anymore but when one pains comes along it sucks.... LOL

Well I just got ahold of my doc and he said this sometimes happened when transitioning from liquid to puree. I am going into his office to get some sample heartburn meds from his nurse. He said it should not last more than a week if it does than I will have to get the 1cc of fluid that is in the band taken out but he has never had that happen so soon after being banded. I hope the meds work.... Jennifer

OMG I have had heartburn for the last 3 days now and nothing is working to get rid of it. I tried calling my doc but he will be out of the office till the 14th. Before being banded the only way to get relief from this feeling was to vomit the acid out of my stomic. I don't know how I can do that now that I am banded. I am pretty sure the doc left some saline in the band when he placed it. I don't know what to do. With the insurance I have I can't just go to any other doc. I don't know if I can wait till the 14th...... Jennifer

I have to wait 6 weeks to have my first fill. I was banded on the 28th. I think I have to wait is because my band has a little fill in it already. I had a hernia fixed as well but I think my doc makes all his patients wait 6 weeks regardless of hernia repair or not.... Jennifer

I also had a hiatal hernia repaired at the same time... My diet post op has been only 4 days of liquids and then on to mushies. I do have to be on mushies for 2-3 weeks. Then I can start solids. I had my surgery Juky 28th and am almost pain free. I actually left the hospital almost pain free. I was worried because I was told by others on here that the pain after a hernia repair was horrible pain. But I feel great. I am 8 days post op and have lost 8 lbs since surgery. It is like a pound is coming off everyday. I know I shouldn't expect this in the future after I start solids but this is an amazing way to start my new life with the band.... Jennifer

Congrats... I too had my surgery the 28th. I am doing great also. I was affraid because I had to have a Hiatel Hernia fixed at the same time and I heard reconvery is worse. Well mine actually has been a piece of cake(YUM....CAKE....) Oh sorry got side tracked for a minute... LOL I actually went hiking yesterday... I am kind of still haveing the shoulder pain but it is tolerated... Anyway, I wish you the best of luck and we will have to keep in touch... Jennifer

What I did was go to the nutrition part on here. It gives a bunch of suggestions on mushy foods. I printed out the recipes I liked the best. There is one with cream of wheat that was delish. I really like FF refried bean, light sour cream, little shredded cheese, and taco sauce. Not salsa. I bought the Taco Bell sauce. it was great. and a little hambuger meat seasoned with taco seasoning... Blend it all up with a hand blender and micro.... It was great. It was the first mushy I had and I swear I will def have it again...

I would ask your doc but my doc told me NO ibuprofen!! It makes the blood thinner and harder to heal....

I had my surgery done the 28th too. It was a little hard for me to breath at first too. They also gave me a thing to sucks on to help me breath. I brought that home with me. The whole point in that is so we don't develope pnemonia. Mine has eased up a bit but it still hurts sometimes. I just remember the nurses telling me to breath through it no matter what. And eventually it will go away. I had a hiatel hernia fixed at the same time and was told that could be causing the pain too.... Jennifer

awww Kat.. Give yourself a break. You haven't been banded for long. You knew coming into this what type of a struggle it would be. I know it is a little disheartning to not see that scale move down but atleast it isn't moving up. and you really can't count 1 lb. Your time will come. I know the knowlege you had about this surgery before you got it done and I know this is just a little bump in the road for you. Give it more time. I do know how you feel. I was freak'n because I couldn't lose any on my pre-op diet. Shoot I only lost 5 lbs and it should have been more. You are doing great and you inspire me to do great. This will work for you and me.... Don't be so hard on yourself.... WE WILL DO IT... love you, Jennifer

I didn't watch but maybe the last 10 min of it tonight. They had an oncore. I thought it was quit stupid. Did you notice the girls that was sent home a majority of them where the fatest ones. Most heavy set girls already have a complex about their weight, so why not tell them that they are still not good enough. Hit on their depression a little harder. I dunno it is kind of hard to explain for me. I am just weighting to see the up coming shows. Are they going to have food eating compitions or something. I think it will just get bad reviews. Not just because the women are overweight but it did seem a little boring. Was he giving them RINGS?? I mean as in after all this I will marry you??? I mean please. There are ALL types of dating shows. And how many have really found love doing this???? Flavor of love? Brett Michaels?? NEW York?? please give us all a break..... LOL

Well I am 3 days post op and am feel fantastic. I can't believe how good I feel. The only real pain I am having is the shoulder gas pain. But it isnt' TO bad. The only time it happens is when I eat. Afterward I just lay down and put a heating pad on it and it usually goes away. I didn't get any strips on my insisions. Just glued shut. LOL I am going to take pics later. I did 2 days of clear liquids and now the doc says I can start mushies. I have been walking and have even been shopping... LOL Anyway, just wanted to give everyone an update....

I have only been banded 3 days now and that is where I have my pain. In my shoulder, after I eat. It isn't that bad. I have heard people on here, say it was horrible but for me it wasn't and isn't. I just lay down and put a heating pad on it for a while and most of it usually goes away. I am hoping for this to stop in the near future so we will see... Jennifer

I posted earlier about ordering one. I got it Monday but they sent me the wrong one. I ordered the pink one and they sent me a red one. I called them and they said they would send me a pink one. No questions asked and I get to keep the red one... I thought that it was pretty neat.... Jennifer

Thanks everyone I really appreciate it. I moved to Alaska not lng ago and don't really know many people here. I know NO one who has had this surgery here. There isn't any support groups here. I think that is why I love everyone here on LBT. I don't think I could have done it without everyone here!!!! Jennifer
