Hi from sunny southern ca! an introduction.

i am going to share what i posted in my profile. i think that my lapband story is similar to others. i have been overweight all of my life. always the chubby girl in class, the last one to get a date for the dance, etc. i have had periods of time where i was thinner, but i believe now i am at top weight. i cannot be certain because there were long periods of time i did not get near the scale. i have been researching and trying to get the surgery since 2002. i have been to a total of 3 surgeons (in different cities) and i finally have an insurance that will cover it, even though i am buying it through cobra. i feel like i have not chosen to do some things in life because of my weight or my embarassment reguarding my weight. i also want to be practicing what i preach to my patients. i have a supportive family and husband as well as an awesome primary doctor and medical assitant. i have "lurked" these boards for years, but finally have the courage to join now that my surgery is scheduled for monday. i am interested to see how my progress and journey unfolds. and i am so gratful to all those who have shared their own stories, thoughts and experiences.

wow! it is so surreal to see that i finally made a post after this long!

Congrats on making the decision! I hope everything goes well! Keep posting! My story matches yours almost exactly! My surgery date wont be until November because I am working and going back to school! Good luck!

God Bless on monday...

It took me a few years to dedcide to have the surgery, and each time I came close to my first seminar I chicken-out. I said I can do this on my own. and for short time I did only to gain that which I lost and more.

I don’t regret having the surgery. I think that it was one of the best decisions that I could have made for myself. I know that you will do well, all the best on Monday.

thanks for the "warm" wishes! it is really helping me with the butterflies in my tummy... or is that the clear liquid diet i have been on? i am a little worried about the pain. i filled all of my rx's and i don't have any refills left on my lortab liquid and it worries me that ive only got 12 doses. i will definatley ask the surgeon about it on monday. thanks for all of the support!

Hello Ang2! Welcome from another sunny so cal. user. Congrats on your surgery!! :blushing: How r u doing on your clear liquid diet? How exciting!! Oh plz keep us posted.

You got dates to the dances?? :blushing:

I wouldn't worry too much about the Lortab refill. I was using Tylenol on the second or third day and needed one or two doses of the stronger stuff after that. I still have most of my bottle!

However, we all handle pain differently--it is better to be safe than sorry if you have a lower pain threshold. Mine's medium to high.
