Popcorn- Good? Bad?

Recommended Posts

Has anyone had either good or bad experiences with popcorn? I am flirting with the idea of trying to have popcorn sometime in the next few weeks, but I am nervous!

I would love to hear your story!

THANKS!

I can eat popcorn fine. I honestly can eat any food fine, or at least any I've tried! I'm at my sweet spot, too.

I guess it just depends. I can even eat white bread untoasted (I know because I tried! LOL) Some things I have to take more care with than others, but nothing is on the "never" list.

Its fine for me but I can end up eating too much without thinking. I think that is the nature of popcorn...

I just got the 100 calorie minibags to try that.

But I do realize that popcorm is not a real good food choice because it is all carbs and little substance...

Best of luck to you.

So funny, I'm sharing some with my husband right now. It's the first time I've had it since being banded, but I'm taking it slow and chewing well. No problems thus far.

Actually, while popcorn is all carbs, it's a whole grain.

I've tried it (probably too soon) and didn't have any issues. I ate it real slowly, piece by piece and stopped when I had enough.

The bad news is I got butter/topping on it (at a movie theater). I "justified" it by figuring it was easier to eat because it was wet. ;-)

Seriously, I was really careful with it and didn't have a problem. Veggies, now that's another story!

It probably should not be eaten early on, but it should be no problem after a couple months. I know many people eat popcorn without a problem.

I am glad everyone had good experiences with popcorn but my experience with it was quite the opposite. I am out of town visiting my mother and we were playing cards and she popped a bag of Natural popcorn and put it in a bowl for everyone. I ate just a few bites and boy did I regret it. I didn't have any problems with it going down but it made me feel lousy almost immediately. I got the sweats and an instant headache.

You're not the only one. I would rather stuff myself with a giant yeast roll than swallow one kernel of popcorn *LOL* The 3 times I tried it (yes, I know I'm stupid) within a couple hours I was in the bathroom with the most excruciating stomach pains. Never again.

I can also eat popcorn but if you can't and still want the taste try Quaker Mini Delights Popcorn flavor. It's not the same but close enough to make me happy. If I do a mini bag of popcorn, I want to do two! These snack bags of rice cakes work well for me.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
