Recommended Posts

Good Morning all..........I will be banded on the 5th of Nov. and am thrilled. I don't need any last hurrah, my life has already changed. We are all just snowflakes, everyone of us are different, and we must each choose our own way. Be true to yourself:thumbup:.

I'm scheduled for November 20th...as long as CareCredit approves my financing! I'm keeping my fingers crossed!

I've decided that I'll use Jay Robb's Protein for my pre-op diet. My pre-op is only 3 shakes a day + 2 lean meals for 2 weeks. I think I have it pretty easy compared to some of you!

Hi November 16 is my date to be banded. Any one from the Conroe, Tx area? I had been waiting for ins approval for so long that I called to check and was told they had not received anything on me, so called Doc and started all over. This gave me to much time to think about it, now I am back in panic mode! I am still looking forward to the weight loss.

Hey fellow November bandsters! My surgery will hopefully be booked for November, waiting to hear back from my surgeon this week!!! Im so excited I don't know what to say! But I am also very nervous, not about the surgery but about life after the band. Will the scars be bad? will I be able to lose enough weight? Will I need plastic surgery afterwards? These are all the things that run through my mind everyday!! But overall I am so psyched!!

I'm so excited and nervous all at the same time. I have a November 12th surgery date. :w00t:

I met with the NP in August and got insurance approval right away. I then did all my appointments in September and met with my surgeon end of September and he gave me my surgery date!

I just filled my prescription for Lovanox  and just found out it is an injection I have to give myself twice a day for two weeks after surgery. I have a history of blood clots after surgery. So once I get the shock of that out of my system I'll be good!

I'm a little nervous about gaining more weight prior to my surgery date. I have been "trying" to eat better but not feeling it. lol...... My doctor didn't give me a diet prior to surgery or anything so I'm just doing this for me I guess.

Good luck to everyone and keep us informed for thos of you who have already completed surgery.

Hi All.... Got my date too... Nov 18 WooPee! I have had all my appointments except the EDG which is the 9th. I met with the nutritionist the other day and she is expecting that I will only loose 42lbs in the first year. I was disappointed. I was really hoping for like 75lbs. Has anyone else been told they won't loose that much weight the first year? Nice to meet all of you and I wish all y'all the best of luck!:thumbup:

my doctor and nutritionist both told me I would loose the weight I want in 2 years and I want to loose 80 lbs. So yes.. they expect this process to be slow with weight loss and that's ok with me as long as it's coming off and I'm not yo-yo'ing anymore.

I've been eating pretty healthy, and have given up soda for months now... My preop appt is Nov 9, so I can't go completely nuts on the 7th, but I will have a few last bites of pie!

I'm super excited for the 19th, and it is so nice to know there are a bunch of you out there getting ready with me!

Update: My surgery is set for Nov 3rd assuming all the bloodwork comes back ok, and I have no reason to think it won't. No special prediet but I'm doing a MasterCleanse right now (day 3 of 4) and then going on low carb...most likely Protein shakes for Breakfast and lunch and then a low carb meal for dinner.

I've lost most of the bloat in my belly already just from two days Master Cleanse, and I'm sure the doc will be pleased not to have to grub around in liver fat two weeks from now. Oh my gosh...just realized my blood work is being done in 2 days and then two more weeks to surgery!

mastercleanser ROCKS..... I joke with my kids I am fluffy when they cuddle with me..... now I have become squishy with the MC , I am only on day 7 !!!!!!!! I am curious how the Dr will take it ... I mean about the mastercleanser.....Did you discuss it with your Surgeon Elfie? I would think he would be happy to have an easier go since the fat is reduced! I THANK GOD I WILL NOT YO-YO back this time! I am so excited to jumpstart my weightloss. I am resetting my body for a healthful future.

I didn't, but I'll see him when I go in for my bloodwork in two more days. From a 'health' standpoint, my blood sugar is now dropping into the normal range.

I'm with you. This is a great kickstart to a new life.

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.
