Have a wonderful Christmas Vi's!!!

I will be in New Jersey, better know as the armpit of the US, for the holidays. It will be fun to be with family. Although I am not quite sure when anyone would "choose" to live there - at least not where I am going.

If anyone here is from NJ - I am just kidding. It is just that traffic really sucks close to NYC and you can't even make left turns. People are not friendly or accomodating at all either. I have met some of the most unfriendly people on the planet in that general area, lol.

That reminds me . . . last year when we visited, we drove up to Atlantic City for an evening. In the casino, I had some drunk guy with a beer belly, hawaiin shirt and slurred speech swagger up to me and ask "doan u peeple even spiik engliss?"

It went on unpleasantly from there as he started slurring out religious questions and I don't want to bore you with the details . . . but since when did I become "you people?" Red hair, freckles, born and raised here - I look pretty darn American if I do say so myself.

The other thing that surprised me is that I was the only American in the group of people I was with and even though no one was speaking English - why did he single me out as the one to ask insulting racist questions to?

Judy, the church is adorable. It has that inviting feel that some churches always seem to miss.

Anyway, everyone please have a lovely Christmas :0) I am so looking forward to seeing family, I am sure we will have a wonderful time.

Good afternoon, Violets..

One more hour and then I start getting ready to head to church for the service. I got 40 big sugar Cookies baked and frosted this morning, plus got all the fixin's for English Muffin pizzas chopped and ready. House is clean, presents are under the tree and Ethan just went home a little while ago. Time to relax, breathe and enjoy the quiet before all the excitement of opening gifts tonight.

Heather....I'm always amazed by the stupidity of some people. The hateful reaction to gays, to African Americans, to any minority in general is a mystery to me. And those people who are so hateful are oftimes the professed christians. So sad.

May you all receive the peace, love and joy of the newborn babe in the manger. God bless you, my friends..

I am assuming my Secret Santa got their present, because the tracking number said it was delivered.

Was Carson spoiled this Christmas?

Merry Christmas!!

Good morning, Violets!

Candlelight service was beautiful as always. All of the music made it that way. I won't even go into how boring the sermon was.. fa la la la la.

Kids all came over and we had English muffin pizzas and then opened gifts. Ethan made out very well. He got tons of clothes and toys. I got ribbon candy and a laptop cooling fan. Our gifts from Kris and Nathan come today. We told the kids no gifts, but they have minds of their own. Bob and I opened our gifts to each other today. I got him a new robe and he got me the new Stephen King book and some more ribbon candy. Yikes!! Talk about temptation!! He also got me a laptop lapdesk. I'm happy!! Now on to our cruise in two weeks.

Off to make a Jello salad for dinner at Kris's inlaws tonight.

Hope everyone has a relaxing, fun day with friends and family.

Merry Christmas!!!

I hope you all know how much I appreciate you!!!

Do you like ribbon candy Judy? I thought Stephen King retired from writing? I used to read him all the time. My all time favorite is "The Stand". Sometimes he gets too creepy and gory for me.

I got some gift cards and earrings and a ring!!

Spoiled I am........

I had a great christmas eve, it was perfect except my cousin and her husband were not there, they were supposed to come in today but I don't think they are because of snow. We are not supposed to get any but as I type this it is snowing............

Off to my Aunts!

Have a Merry and Blessed Christmas!!!!!!

We didn't make it to mass. Sooo tired. We MIGHT go to 10am...depends.

Slept in! The gym opens up at 8 today...woke up at 7:30 and got ready...going now! I took yesterday off, don't want to start that again!

Wishing all my girlies an amazing holiday w/ family, fun, friends, food and all the fabulous-ness of the season!

Jane.. I got 3 boxes of ribbon candy!!! If I was good, it would last me all year. But I'm betting it doesn't make it till the new year. It's the really thin ribbon candy. Walmart sells it and the kids know how much I love it.

Stephen King is still going strong on the writing. He comes out with a new book at least twice a year. He had a horrible accident a few years back but seems to have recovered. And yes, a lot of his books are gory and violent. My favorite was The Green Mile. This one is called Under the Dome and is huge!!

Bob ate the last 2 English Muffin pizzas for breakfast.. *gasp* and I had a piece of Christmas Stollen. We're just going to pick at things until dinner out tonight. I have a cranberry orange salad to take tonight along with some boiled in beer shrimp.

Off to play Bejeweled on Facebook. Enjoy the day!!!

Merry Christmas!!

We enjoyed the candlelight service last night... at the end they turn off all the lights and we hold candles and sing "Silent Night"... that's when I know it's Christmas.

Was up 'til almost 3am sneaking the presents down to the tree & stuffing stockings... dd can't ever sleep on the Eve so it's hard to do in a timely manner! Then she woke us up @ 7am to begin the festivities, so... yawn!

It's nice having my mom here w/us to join in the fun...

It was forecast that we would be getting ice/sleet/freezing rain today, so last night after about an hour going back & forth & trying to decide what to about the family dinner today, my sisters & I decided to postpone it 'til tomorrow... our great aunt & uncle have the furthest to drive & they had called to say that they wouldn't come today... so, naturally, there is NOTHING falling from the sky today -- not even rain! Oh well... we figure now we get 2 days of Christmas this way! (Maybe that's how the 12 Days started, lol!)

I made a BIG breakfast this a.m.: eggs, coffee cake, hash browns, bacon, sectioned citrus fruit, the works!... we'll just snack the rest of the day, & then maybe get Chinese tonight, since we were supposed to be having the 25lb turkey that's hanging out in my 'frig! We may devour my mom's pumpkin roll today, too -- & then just make another one for tomorrow! We're so sneaky!

Everyone enjoys their gifts... most of them were more functional this year, as our big gift is supposed to be the Mexico trip... but I got an i-pod touch for my music & games & silly apps!

We're all still in pj's, lounging around playing/reading w/our new items... really, a lovely relaxing Christmas day!

I'm so glad you liked your gifts, Janie! The scarf is extra long so you can loop it through itself... does that make sense? Thanks for the voicemail!

Laura, how did Carson enjoy his first Christmas?

Off to lounge some more... everyone enjoy their days!!

Four days post surgery. I am sipping as fast as I can and getting NO WHERE near the goal of 60 - 80 grams of protein or the 64 oz of liquids. I just feel FULL. I don't know if it can still be the gas build up (I would think by now that would be gone) but it is a struggle to drink. And so far I have not had the nausea or spasms and don't want to wander into that territory by pushing too hard with liquids. I about passed out today as it was my most "strenuous" day. Went from second story to basement for shower and I was sure I was going to pass out. Looking back on my last few days I have had a total of less than 1000 calories. Am I just not getting enough nourishment in me? Once again a friday where I can't get ahold of the doc until Monday rolls back around so I am hoping maybe someone here has some experience on how to keep energy going. I do have fibromyalgia too and that may be where some added fatigue comes into play. How did you all fair with the goals the week after surgery?

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

I'm in Houston so kind of near you and had the sleeve in Dec. Down 61 lbs. Feeling better. Was definitely worth it. I hope the everything is going well for you. Update us when you can!

I am back home after my bypass surgery in Tiajuana. I'm post op day 4. Everything went great! I guess I'm one of the lucky ones who have not encountered much pain at all, no nausea thus far and I'm having no problem keeping down broths and water. Thank you for your well wishes. I cant wait to keep up this journey and have a chance at better health and simply better quality of life. I know there will be bumps in the road ahead, and everything won't be peaches and cream, but at least I have a great start so far. 😍

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

      2. Doughgurl

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜
