Where did you get that idea, Jenn? I have no problem with your being here!! Why would I??

=======

I got a fill yesterday and today I am in mourning. I really enjoyed my 2 months being restriction-free....but I gained 6# in the process! I'm sitting here eating cottage cheese and it's verrrrrrry slow going down. Wah. I'm gonna miss grilled chicken the most...and yummy salads. But gotta do what I gotta do.

Oh Kat, I'm so so sorry that you're going through all this. And poor Kinsey! I just want to cry just thinking about it. I would be terrified just wondering what was going on... I'm so so sorry and I hope things get better for you soon. I love you...

Laura -I'm glad that Russ is coming around. I'm sure your parents will too eventually. As far as the having your second already? That's the next big thing you have to sit and ponder with Russ. How would you do it? Would you bring two kids to work with you? Lots of questions! Regardless of what you decide we will support you all the way. Also, I would be more than happy to come with you to Mexicali when you eventually got your surgery. Kat said that the language barrier wasn't a problem but I think it would help to have someone with you who is fluent.

Janey - if it weren't for the fact that I'm getting married I would probably weigh about the same as when I was banded. I suck at working the band!! SUCK AT IT!! LOL. The only thing that is helping me is moving my ass, HARD, and watching my food intake. No fried stuff, no sugar. No processed lunch meat. Sigh... I miss ham...

Yesterday I was hobbling around like an old lady and I thought I wasn't gonna be able to do anything at the gym. My friend told me to suck it up and to get on the treadmill. I did and once I started all my muscle pain started to go away. She says that moving more is what helps sore muscles... Never knew that. But then again when I got home I was sore again. I've been sore for two weeks straight. When will it end??? LOL.

What's everyones plans for this holiday weekend?? Anything fun?

Haydee -

I guess I just want to make sure .....

I was hurting for about the first 3-4 weeks I was walking, the best thing I did was decided to take a day off then get up and walk. It was enough of a rest, now I do my walk with no issues at all and feel great.

Jane - I will send you some of my motivation, but restriction to go with that helps me

Haydee - when I'm sore like that the thing that REALLY helps is Advil and a hot tub. If they have a spa at your gym, USE IT!!!

WOW you go jen!!!

Haydee that would be AWESOME!!

And Kat, Dr. A is actually who I am leaning toward, now it's convincing everyone it's SAFE and ok. They believe it's all unsanitary, they butcher you and leave instruments, because there's no regulation. But there is, and it's the fly by nights who rent an office space, etc. that do the things they worry about. It will take some time to get them to come around. Dr. A quoted me 12,500 to remove the band & swap to sleeve. They don't include airfare, but we fly to SD which isn't too bad.

I didn't know any of you went to Dr. A. That will actually help me when I talk to them about it, to let them know one of my very own V's (not just some 'random internet person' which is what they refer to everything else I read) went there and would go back!

My mom said, don't go just because of cost; it's dangerous. I told her, I was thinking of the sleeve after finding out I may need another surgery--which had nothing to do with cost. And right now from what I have researched, Dr. A sounds like the best option, even if money wasn't a factor. So she said, wait a few years till the TN doctor that does them has them under his belt.. well I can't find any stats on 'revisions' for him, which is an important factor, and Dr. A has done a lot of revisions.

yah, i hate her too, LOL. I DO NOT have willpower when it comes to food... But I'm honest. I write everything down. And so when my friend checks my food journal at the beginning of our workout if she sees something that I shouldn't have eaten she adds minutes to our treadmill routine and extra weight training.

Terry - we do have a hot tub at the gym. Never thought about using it... I will take my bathing suit tonight and get in... And I thought we werent supposed to take Advil? I keep taking Tylenol each night. It doesn't help that much...

Hi guys

yeah, because of the lexapro I was back up to 218 the monday of that week, 215 at the dr on the 30th and 188 today. I was on Clear liquids for 10 days (post op diet) then mushies for 10 days and now running about 5-600 cals a day with approx 70g Protein. I got a huge reality check, just like post surgery, except I was better this time because after surgery swelling went down I was hungry, this fill was good and I was able to focus, I could have stayed on liquid but I was not getting any nutrition.

I hope going to the gym after kids get back to school I'll hit my Sept goal of 180 and maybe even my ending goal of 175 by the end of the month... that is only 8lbs in 31/2 weeks... I can do that.

I have never had 1.5 in me and I am golden, but for the most part my head is in a really good place with this.

I want to hit my goal of 150 by my birthday in March

Gee Thanks...LOL It was the fill, and when I eat something different I go to my daily plate and log the meal so I know where I am at. (you can print out a daily report there too)

Did you ever try children's liquid advil??? I don't take it often but when my body hurts from working out and I know I am not going to sleep I take it and no issues. Tylenol doesn't touch my muscle aches

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.
