Will be banded 10/28

Recommended Posts

I will be banded on 10/28 and want to be excited, but do not have the support of my family. My husband is supportive so that helps. I am starting to question my decision now, and feeling a little depressed.

You wouldn't be human if you didn't question these kinds of life altering decisions. But you are smart woman and make the right decision for you and your family, I am sure!!

Don't be depressed, be informed!! The more you know, the more you will feel confident about your decision, no matter what others think! What questions do you have? What worries you? I'll tell you anything you want to know...we all will here! ((hugs)) and welcome to LBT!!

Hi msfrosh! Congratulations on setting the date for your surgery! I will be banded on Monday 10/10. The closer it gets, the more excited/anxious I get!

How wonderful that your husband is supporting you in this journey! Lean on him, talk-talk-talk to him about your concerns and feelings. I'm sorry that the rest of your family is not coming around to seeing your side of this great tool.... is it because they don't understand the way it will improve your life/health? Do they realize it is not as dangerous as the bypass?

I'm divorced, and I have to say that if it was not for my Mom (and this wonderful group at LBT!) I'm not sure if I would be as excited to go thru with this procedure. I've done 7 months of research, been to several seminars - and took my Mom with me too! She's my rock! I have to say, I was cautious to explain this to her in the beginning.. she's a retired dietician and I was not entirely sure she wouldn't tell me to just diet and excercise. But, she's seen my struggle with weight over the years. We both know the success of the band will depend on how well I chose to work with it.

I've decided not to tell any of my close friends yet, or anyone at work either. I want to do this at my pace, and not have others scrutinizing my behavior!

I hope you realize that the wonderful friends on this board are just like brothers & sisters... adopt us and we'll be the supportive family you need during this journey.

ALL THE BEST,

Hi msfrosh, I too am to be banded soon and have little support. My BF is the only one who knows and he's not too excited about it. Use this forum for your support or you can e-mail me privately and we'll support each other. Good luck and congrats for your decision to seek a better life.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
