I'm not trying to be inappropriate here, but I really don't want to ask my surgeon this question!! I was banded almost 9 weeks ago. Has anybody else had port pain during sex? (My port is lower right abd) I think it is more when I contract my abd muscles. so I try not to do anything too strenuous. However the other night, I had to stop because my port site hurt and my husband felt really bad about it. Then last night, I guess I was kind of holding my abd for support (I thought inconspicuously)during it and he asked me if it hurt...and I lied and said I was fine. On a normal day, I might have a little soreness or none at all. It's just during sex. I'm hoping everything is ok and figured by week 9 I'd be fine. I'd hate to have to ask the Dr about this....Thanks for your help!

I think you are just using muscles in that area and possibly irritate the muscles. Try another position and see if that helps. If not, mention it to your doc. I don't think you will cause your port any problems having sex.

I have had the same problem. I was banded on July 23rd and I still have port pain during sex. I also tried to put pressure on the port but it still was uncomfortable. I tried a different position and had no pain at all. You should try different ones and see what works.

You need to check with your surgeon. You're a nurse; I can't believe you're too shy!

Just pretend you are asking for a patient...or better yet, ask his nurse. I agree by 9 weeks it shouldn't hurt; maybe he didn't place it properly.

If you want just tell him "during certain physical activities my port causes me pain"

BINGO!!! I have been experiencing a burning stabbing pain about an inch or two below my port for the past 24 hours and the thought never crossed my mind if it was because of having sex for the first time since the surgery. That has got to be it! I would be embarassed too to discuss it with my doctor but you need to be straight up with him. I'm only 2 1/2 weeks post op and I think it was too soon. Thanks for making the light go off in my head!!

i'm about 18 mos out and we still have issues. As you lose it's gets better but still can be an issue. If I (forgive bluntness) put a pillow under my butt-that usually (not always) takes care of it.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
