I got banded on Friday Aug 14th. I feel good except that there is a burning sensation at the port site incision. It is worse when I am up...almost non-existant when I am sitting but even the skin around the incision burns and gets worse with touch. Anyone else experience this? Also, any suggestions for foods to eat on liquids? ...I am dying!

I have that feeling around the port incision(I was banded on the 17) I was scared it was infected but it looks ok. I'm living on italian ice, popsicles, Jello and broth, tea, and Water.< /p>

I was banded on 8/11 and only experienced a burning sensation when I bent over which applied pressure to the incisions. The port incision was very tender and would mildly hurt for the first 6 days but then all of a sudden it just felt OK with slight discomfort here and there.

Like you I've been a bit hungry and have existed on crystal light, sugar free popsicals, and clear chicken broth or vegetable broth. On the 7th day I stated simple low cal yogurts without fruit. Yoplait light worked for me and took away the hunger. Last night I enjoyed a bowl of Tomato Soup which was savory compare to all the sweet stuff.

Oh... and I've been doing a can of Slim-fast low carb (20gr protein) and low sugar (3gr) in a blender with a few cubes of ice.... very filling.

Good luck.

Ron

I had the same burning except for when lying down. It was warm to the touch and red. . . DH even mentioned maybe infection. . . but all the sudden it was fine! Skin is still dry and scratchy. . . I keep lotion on it!

i was thinking infection too but its not even pink! It is some better today. I guess I have it a little better because I was allowed to have cream soups/yogurts, pudding, cream of wheat two days after surgery...I am full with just about 1/2 to 3/4 cup of Soup but get hungry fairly quick after. Any ideas for Protein that don't taste too bad? the Isopure is awful...TIA

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
