How many incisions do they do with the lap-band and where exactly? Will you always be able to see the scars?

I have 5 incisions. One above my belly button, one on the right side of my abdomen, one between my boobs, one to the left of my belly button (port incision) and one below that and further to the left.

The port incision is about an inch and a half long. I'll probably be able to see it. The others are all less than one inch. I'm not sure if they'll be really visible forever, but I'm sure they will be much less visible 5 years from now than they are now.

I have 5 also. One above my belly button (port), two to the left of my belly button, one to the right, and one up under my left breast.

I've just been banded this week, so my scars haven't healed yet, but they are very small.

I was just banded on Tuesday. I got 5 incisions (Dr. Brethauer - Cleveland Clinic) ... one on each side of my belly button (one is port site) and 3 above (one on the left and 2 on the right).

My four are about a half inch... the port incision is still bandage but i figure its about an inch to an inch and a half

My surgeon had me watch an informational video about the surgery and it said that I could have UP TO 9 incisions total. Depends on how much they need to get around for the actual surgery. Not sure how noticeable they will be, but I am assuming that they wouldnt be any more or less noticeable than any other scar. I wouldnt know though. Havent had my surgery yet......lol. Just wanted to let you know that that is why my video told me. Best of luck and try not to worry about things like that!

How many incisions depends on your surgeon, usually, and whether or not you'll scar depends on your skin type, ability to heal, and your surgeon's skill. S/he should be able to address this with you.

I had just one incision, just below my belly button.

I only have one incision -- I just had my surgery a few days ago so I haven't seen it yet since it's covered with gauze and a tegaderm patch. It can't be longer than an inch since that's all the space the gauze is covering. The doc said he was going through my belly button but I can't be sure of that until I actually see it.

ditto 5 for me as well.

one for liver biopsy, one for port on left of belly, one almost right on belly button, one directly under boobs and last one to the right of my rt side where md did biopsy. they're all pretty small.

a classmate of mine showed me her scar from five years ago and it looks like a little silver line with dots top and bottom of it.

I just watched an actual surgery being done on youtube. It was pretty invasive and looked painful. I expect the pain from the gas. I had a tubal ligation so I know what that feels like. How painful was it after for all who have had it? I was expecting the normal two incisions... but looks like it will probably be more on the 4 or 5 range. My previous scars I can't even see anymore so I'm assuming it will be the same with this.

Hi: I was banded july 30th and have 5 incisions. 1 between my boobs, 2 to the left1 left and above belly button and one large one above and right of belly button. The large one still has strips on, but the others are small and are healing great. Some bruising around a few. Good luck.

I was only suposed to have one but once they got in there they had to do another tiny one. The bigger one is where my port is and its prob two inches long. The tiney one is just above the first incision and is about a quarter inch long.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
