September 2009 Band Date

Sorry if this thread has already been started but I looked around a bit and couldn’t find one. I think that those of us who are scheduled for September need a place to support each other, help pass the time, and not spam up the boards with a thousand approved threads:tongue2:!!! I am so excited to being this journey. So, how about it? Any lost September banders out there?:):)

Okay. Well thanks ladies I appreciate the comments. The pain got bad enough to where I took the vicodin so now I'm back to la la land. I tried. I decided NOT to go to work tomorrow. I may call out all week just to be safe. I am going to take it one day at a time.

I can feel baby hunger pains sometimes but I think to day was the most I 've eaten/drank. i can't tell when I'm hungry but since i'm not having real hunger pains i'm not eating much i'm just drinking lots of water.

It's amazing how it's different strokes for different folks. I spoke to my doc's nurse and she claims to have known people that went back to work the next day. For whatever reasons I just don't believe it. It almost seems impossible.

someone was telling me that if youve had a kid its a little easier. Well I don't have any kids. First surgery here. All new experience for me and my doc didn't tell me any breathing exercises to do. What are they? confliciting info: Can you eat creamy soups right now? I've had those campbells drinkable soups so I didn't think there was a problem.

The breathing exercises were to breath deep. take in at a slowly as much as you can and then let it out. 10 times an hour.

Wondering how Loveslady is doing, since we were banded on the 17th. First 2 days were great, but today I probably did not drink enough water and felt kind of lousy. Water helped! Not hungry, but I sure would just like to lick a potato chip or piece of cheese. LOL!

Hope things are going well.

I'm fine. I felt like you yesterday. I contributed it to lack of water as well. I tried to cut back on pain meds but my body said no. So I'm back to a pill and a hall of generic vicodin. It makes me dizzy and sleepy so I'm barely up during the day and that's the reason I want off. I'm trying to prep for work monday. Are you back at work?

I'm glad we both came out of it alive n' kickin'. At least when you are sleeping, you are healing.

I went back to work (teacher) for a half day and then ran out of gas. I'm not going back till Thursday. You take care of yourself and stay strong!!!

Well... tomorrow is my day.

The beginning..

I have to take a shower tonight with the surgical scrub and then again in the morning before I go to the hospital.

Which is going to be me getting in the shower at 3:30AM.:frown:

I have the cupboard stocked with all the allowed protein drinks and shakes and soups and whatever else was allowed on my list...so I don't have to leave the house for days.

I am scared but so excited and ready to begin my journey.

Where is it? can you link it to us?

I went to work on Wed after my surgery Friday so on the 5th day. I had the single incision. I have a desk job - i was fine except for the gas pains, and also when I got up from sitting it hurt but not bad. Now I am 90 pct ok. Not sure on the creamy soups I wasn't allowed any of that until 10 days later - only protein shakes that are think enough to go thru a straw.

UGH i am hungry now at about 10 days post op.

I think I'll stop eating them and hope i haven't envoked any damage. I just don't know all the specifics no matter how much I try. I know the shakes are giving me gas. It's 456am and I am up because I'm not feeling well. I don't know what else to do about it.

are you drinking your shakes with a straw? straws will let air in. I drink mine without straws. Don't get frustrated, its a learning curve for all of us.

I had those creamy soups in a cup the second week, so it should be fine as long as there are no lumps or bumps as my nurse had said. Take care.

YES!! I thought straws were better! Okay. I'm off straws. Ladies if you have info send it my way as you can tell I know little to nothing.:bored:

Hi all I hope everyone is doing well :bored: I had to take some time away from the computer to take care of a sick little one. Hopefully everyone is recovering nicely. So far so good here. The only problem is I still can't lay comfortably on my left side because i can feel the foreign objects they put in me when I do. It's weird. Well tomorrow is the post-op checkup and I am interested to see how much I have lost.

Well, I'm 6 days post op and just ate my first real food, a yummy and delicious scrambled egg. Wow, that's the best scrambled egg I've ever had. I just had to have something with texture so that was the next best thing. What did everyone here eat a week post op? Just trying to get some ideas. I feel great so far. No problems whatsoever. I'm drinking 2-3 Muscle Milks I bought from Costco. Each has 20 grams of protein. Plus I've had some different soups. What else can I try???

Thanks!

Hi All,

Had my surgery 9-21-09 at 7:30 came home today about 11:30. I have reached the banded side! Surgery went well, mild pain not to much gas yesterday but gas getting worse today. I feel a little hungery but not to bad. I am on clear liquids for 3 days then full liquid until day 7 I start purreed on day 8. Hope all new bansters are doing well.

Sharie

Banded yesterday and it was actually not as bad as expected. The worst part is the gas pain, but I can feel it already starting to break up. This was the first surgery I have ever had. Besides the gas, I just feel really bloated and sore. I am walling a lot! Is this normaal... pretty much what everyone else is going through?

Hang in there! It gets better every day. Congratulations for crossing over to the banded side.:bored:

congrats ladies. There are alot of post up here that you can catch up on. I know I posted alot of questions that I got answeres to. It's really cool that others can help you out.

Hello Ladies, Congratulations to all those who have been banded.. It's my 22nd day in. I was able to feel the port at first and it was "weird" But, now I don't know if I'm just getting used to it or with the healing it's not as prominent. I have to press down to feel anything.

I haven't really lost any more weight but, I guess it's all good since I haven't gained any either. I have been slacking on the working out. So, that may be the reason.

At this point, the hardest thing for me is to eat without anything to drink. I was doing that in the beginning.

Just because I was so used to having a drink with my meal and I had forgotten my instructions not to. I couldn't figure out why I was feeling so bloated and uncomfortable. Now, I eat my meal and wait the recommended 45 minutes to drink anything. I feel full, satisfied and I notice the feeling last longer. This has totally been a learning experience. Well, just checking in I Hope the best for Everyone! :bored:
