Lap Band & Pregnancy

Recommended Posts

Hi all, i had my gastric band fitted at bromsgrove on May 31st 2008. By xmas i'd lost 50lbs and then discovered i was pregnant (was chuffed been trying for over 8 yrs). I'm due to give birth in 7wks and have put on about 28lbs. I haven't had any fills since discovering i was pregnant and feel like i've no restriction left at all.

Has anyone been through simular? and if so how soon after having my baby can i have a fill done? I'll be breastfeeding and so will need to keep my strength up.

Know this might sound stupid, but will it all work for me now? Being overweight and 8 months pregnant is not easy and i want to be slim before I have more children.

Thanks to those who have read and can offer advice.

Hi, my daughter is pregnant, and due in Oct, she will be having her fill taken out in about 2 weeks at Spire Cardiff, I'll try to remember to ask the surgeon when would be the earliest for her to get a refill if I find out I'll let you know. Where will you be having your fills done?

Do you have the fills through Spire with Mr Wong, not under xray, or with spire under xray or do you use WLS.

My daughter has been advised to have a unfill (not under xray) on week 30ish did you do the same, if so how much was taken out.

I usually have my fills with Chris Deprez from Belgium in Newport £80, but last month I could'nt make the appointment so went to Mr Wong, but I think I've had an overfill and one week on still cannot eat anything.

I did have an overfill and went to get some taken out today, and while I was there I asked him about the earliest time after birth that he recommended to have a re-fill, he asked about breast feeding, and if you intend to do so he suggested not to be filled until after 4weeks of the birth. Hope this info helps

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
