Lately I have been having really bad hunger pains in the evening, only about 2 hours after eating. I have good restriction, and am not overeating, so what is the deal? I am not drinking too early after eating or anything either. I can't handle another fill, I have a hard enough time getting stuff down as it is sometimes.

I'm not being a smarta$$ when I say this, but it may be that you're simply HUNGRY! I complained of the same thing to my doctor, and that was her answer!!!

You don't mention the quantity of food, or the amount of exercise you are doing, so it's hard to know for sure. I was working out 4-5 days a week, and after tracking my calories I was only eating 900-1000 cal. per day. Not enough to sustain my body!

Track your calorie intake on one of the online trackers. I use the daily plate on www.livestrong.com. It tracks nutrition, water, and exercise. I found that 1200-1400 calories per day works best for me, even if that means eating more frequently than every 4 hours on workout days.

If evenings are the only time you're having trouble with it, have a small, high protein snack. And, I hope this takes care of the pangs. I know they're no fun!

Your right, it could be what I am eating. I mean, like today, I had oatmeal for breakfast (which is more of a carb then a protein). I couldn't eat the whole package, but I ate most of it and was full (well, hiccups and tightness). Not 2 hours later I was hungry, so I ate a protein bar because I was on my way out to a pet appt. I used to not ever be hungry. Then I started taking Adipex for energy (it is also an appitite supressant) and that is when the hunger pains started. I think it may be related some how. When the meds wore off in the evening I really started getting hunger pains. I will try to get in more proteins and see if that makes a difference. Thanks for the tip.

Probably because your band is looser in the evenings than it is in the mornings. My doctor told me that I would probably be much hungrier in the evenings and less hungry in the mornings. So far that seems to be true.

I am so glad to see someone actually acknowledge that we can be hungry and not call it head hunger. I am so tired of hearing all the "experts" on here dismiss any post about hunger as being in the head. I am 58 and I know the difference between head hunger, real hunger and thirst. Your doctor sounds like one of the smarter ones. Thanks for your post.

DITTO!!! I too know the difference. If I have head hunger, it's just a nagging longing for something to eat. I'm stubborn and I just want it. I fixate on it, and won't be happy until I eat. Hunger is different. My stomach physically growls and hurts. If I let it go, I get a headache, I get nauseous and end up having a light head. There IS a difference.

If you're hungry in the the evenings, eat more Protein at that time of day. If you like oatmeal, don't stop eating it. Just add some unflavored Protein powder to it when you make it. It helps a lot.

Exactly. I know the difference between real hunger and just wanting to eat. That annoys the shit outta me when the nutritionist or the doctor tells me that. I know I'm an overeater and eat when I'm not hungery, but let me tell you, I KNOW WHEN I'M HUNGRY AND EATING 1/2 CUP OF food AT MEALS DOESNT FILL ME UP. Dont get me wrong, Im glad I got his done and I have lost 70 lbs so far, but thats because I PHYSICALLY GET ANYMORE FOOD IN .

ALS74, Protein (that you eat, not protein shakes) will give you a feeling of satiety that lasts longer than anything else you can put in your mouth/pouch. Protein is more dense and takes longer to digest so it stays in your pouch longer. Back before I hit my sweet spot and was getting hungry consistently in less than 4 hours, I was told to eat a small snack of protein. Now, on those occasions when I know I must by necessity go longer than, say, 5 hours between meals, I have a bit of low fat cheese to hold me over. It works for me!

So experiment with protein in the morning (and in small amounts on those occasions that you are hungry) and see if that turns the corner for you!

Have a healthy snack, don't feel guilty about it! Also another way to add protien to oatmeal is by adding a package of the instant carnation breakfast. It looks a little weird, but it tastes like a chocolate oatmeal cookie. Yum!

The oatmeal was unusual for me and Breakfast, I can't really eat anything solid or it hurts too much. I usually have a Protein shake. I am not sure if I will continue the oatmeal or not.

I am dealing with the hunger pain by eating something healthy now. The good news is I discovered that I don't have to hardly eat anything to get rid of the hunger pain. I bought some protein Meal Replacement bars from Atkins, and one or two bites fixes the problem. I am buying more fruit too, and using that- but it doesn't last as long. I also keep beef jerkey around, but I get addicted to it and keep eating it even after the hunger pain is gone.

Once again, thanks for supporting me. I am glad I am not the only one who actually gets hungry. I read posts where people talk about not being hungry any more, and I makes me jealous...lol.
