Hey guys,

I'm new around here, and I'm hoping you guys can offer some advice. I'm 10 weeks pregnant and was banded a few years ago. Was about 25 pounds from goal when I found out we'd conceived. :)

My doctor is one that requires an unfill during pregnancy. No biggie, I thought.. I'm having a huge problem with weight gain though.

Between my first OB's visit and my second (5 weeks) I had gained 14 pounds. During that time, I was constantly queasy (keeping food in tummy made queasiness better), had quit smoking (can't smoke? EAT! ;)) and received my unfill. So things are not stacked in my favor.

However, after going to the OB and being told nicely that that is a freakish amount of weight to gain, I've really been trying to cut down on everything. When I'm hungry, I'm snacking on fruits and veggies and having a Protein Shake for Breakfast. I'm *still* gaining about 2 pounds every few days. It's insane!

I dunno what else I can do to get control of this. I am exercising and there's no greasy foods in my diet. Ugh.

Has anyone experienced anything like this? I feel full of shame. I'm not at all worried about losing after the baby is born, but I don't want my baby to get an unhealthy start at life, yknow?

I was afraid that would happen so I only allowed a little bit of an unfill...my dr said they would give me a fill if I still gained too much. I gained 40 pounds and now still have 20 to loose to get back to where I was before Pregnancy. Can you talk to your LB dr and see what the options are?

I would think if youa re doing all the rightthings then you have nothing to worry about. maybe you have alot of Fluid. A friend of mine put on loads of weight and she lost it all very fast, it was all baby and Fluid.< /p>

So if you aren't over indulging on the naughty things, then don't worry, just enjoy your pregnancy, good luck:thumbup:

Well, when I was pregnant with my second I wasn't banded and weighed more than I did when I had my first I gained 35 lbs! I lost it ALL within 1-2 months of having him. I wouldn't worry it could all even out, you just never know. Everyone is different. Good luck and keep up the good eating habits and exercise!

I too got completely unfilled when I found out I was pregnant. I ended up gaining really fast - it was crazy! I think it played with my hormones and I ended up miscarrying. Next time, I'm leaving my fill in or just slightly unfilling. I don't think rapid weight gain can hurt the baby, but if you're someone who had heavy periods with lots of clotting, then I would be very cautious about gaining weight to quickly. I think it's all ties into the hormones.

How are things going with the weight gain? I have been having similiar issues. You are a few months ahead of me, just wondering how things are going?

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
