Hi guys,

I was banded on July 6 and yes, its been a rough week. But, this morning I woke up and am feeling much better.

I haven't noticed either of you in the July 2009 bandster forum? Check it out and you will be connected to all of us who have had the surgery so far and those whose surgeries are coming up.

You are not alone. Everyday gets better.

Cheers,

Mary

I was banded in April.......and did not get a fill at surgery. Got my 1st fill in early June - getting my 2nd fill next week.

I do not own a scale -- I wait until my dr appts to find out any weight loss.

I have had NO RESTRICTION from day one post-op.

I have been on "will power" and "self-control" the whole time. Which is helping me with the "mental" side of my eating habits.

I can not wait to get my fills -- that will hopefully offer me that physical restriction.

I need the tool (the lapband) to get out of the toolbox and start working!!! YES - I have to get it working, but the fills will get it out of the tool-box!! hahaha

Good Luck to All of Us!!

Hi, I'm on the liquidised diet still having had my band with no fill fitted on June 27. I love to liquidise tinned fruit in juice and have it with yogurt, it goes down easy and is tasty. I also managed fish in cheese sauce we have here with mashed potatoes and spinach. I even managed to liquidise home made lasagne, low fat version and without the garlic bread of course. I'm having lots of frozen veggies with quorn fillet, a meat/chicken Protein substitute. Next week I get to mash rather than liquidise, oh what joy! :tongue_smilie: good luck , Louise x

banded on july 1st, and for the 1st week, i was fine... very little hunger. then boom! it hit me! my stomach, so quiet for that 1st week, now sounds like a tractor from all the growling. i'm trying to focus on eating well, but i've never really liked sweets much (it's always been starches that were my downfall), so the Jello and pudding just makes me ill now. and it's not like there's ton of "liquid" foods out there that aren't loaded with fat and sodium!!

man, i was hoping it would be another week til i hit bandster hell, but i think i'm knocking on the door as i type...

here's hoping that i make it to my first fill in 3 weeks without gaining all i've lost...

I felt really bad after surgery too. So I do think that is normal for some of us. I had a lot of trouble with nausea and gas pain and just being so uncomfortable I felt like crying. It gets better, it just takes some time. Hang in there. Carlene

No fill here! I try to eat high Fiber, high Protein "fillers". I have discovered that Quaker Weight Control oatmeal really holds me over for Breakfast. It has more fiber and protein than other oatmeals. Also, someone mentioned refried Beans, and if you like them, they are also a great filler food. I had them for lunch with a little salsa and cheese.< /p>

I was banded with no fill and I am starving. Has anyone else been banded with no fill and how are you doing?

When were you banded? What are you supposed to be eating now?

I was banded 2nd July with no fill. Some days I'm not too bad but frequently feel I could eat a horse. I was so hungry last night I ate 2 slices of bread no worries. then an hour later had 2 slices of toast!!!! :crying:Argh!!! I'm sposed to be on fluids for another 2 weeks. Will be phoning Dr. on Mon as I dont want to cause a slip or stretch my pouch.

I was banded on Jan. 26 with no fill and still have not had a fill to this day. I have lost 51 pounds so far. I go this week to see about my first fill. I am sort of stuck at this time and think it is time for my first fill. I feel very luck that I have not had a fill yet.

I had my surgery 10/13/08 and have still not had a fill and have lost 107 pounds. On the other hand my friend had the surgery 4 weeks before me, has had 2 fills and lost 125+ pounds. I really think it all depends on each persons individual system and possibly the reasons why they were overweight. Personally I feel that I ate the wrong foods as opposed to the amount of food (though I have cut my intake of food in half at least since being banded and write everything down so I am aware of what I am eating/drinking).

Darlin...go easy! If you are really hungry try a nice rich Soup like lentle or minestrone (put it through a blender first though). You don't want to have gone through all of this and have complications because of a few pieces of bread...its just not worth it. Be creative with the fluids...nice juice...do a blended smoothie with some fresh strawberries and low-fat yogurt. Hang in there.

Mary...post-op day 5

I was banded 5 days ago, I felt the same at first but don't worry you feel so much better each day and I feel great today! Even my aching left shoulder is not as bad as this actually felt worse than my stomach because of the refereed pain from the diaphragm.I hope you feel better soon...

Me too!! I was banded 6/16 with no fill either!! I am head hungry all the time!! However when my belly growls I try and make sure to eat Protein. I get my fill 7/26 and the nurse said the Doc puts 4cc's in @ the first fill:scared2: A little nervous to go from nothing to 4, but I am sure it will be worth it when the pounds come off!!

Okay - I am the oddball here. I am banded with no fill, but I am 10 months out. I was banded on September 5th and weighed 232. Since that date, I became a vegetarian, and then a vegan. Weight loss is not super quick, but steady. I am now 186, about half way toward my goal of 140. I decided that I have made such tremendous life changed (I was extremely out of control in my food addiction,) and I really am embracing this healthy life style. I decided that I have lost half the weight with the band (my lifesaver and only reason I am not 300 pounds today) and I now want to lose the other half without the band. So far I am loving it and more careful than when I had the lapband full. I feel like I was stranded in the middle of the ocean and the lapband was my lifeboat....It is time for me to swim...

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
