Head vs. Stomach Hunger... help!

Recommended Posts

I am not stomach hungry, but feel the need to eat!! ..... I've had 1 Protein Shake and 2 smushed eggs.... My stomach feels full, but my head is hungry!!

Yesterday I couldn't control it and I ate too much. Didn't get sick or anything, but felt like I was eating without being stomach hungry. How do you deal with that??? HELP! I'm two weeks post op..

I know for me, when I am head hungry, it's usually because there is something I don't want to deal with and I am using food to distract myself. It's usually an emotion I don't want to feel. When I get that way, I sit in a quiet room, close my eyes, and have a little talk with myself. I ask myself what's going on and what I don't want to face. It usually does the trick.

Sue,

Try drinking Water, when you get that head hunger. I read somewhere that sometimes its the body's way of letting us know that our body is thirsty, but we usually confuse it with being food hungry. Hope it helps. Btw, you really dont have lots to loose, and where are you in Texas? Good luck !

I was banded two days before you. I do that sometimes. When I start to go for the pantry or refrigerator I stop cold and turn around. I then do something else like a lot of times I come into my computer room and get on here and start typing and reading other peoples comments. That can keep me busy for awhile and gets my mind off of food. I also get out of the house and either go for a walk or visit with my neighbor or I call my Mom. She is one of the very few members of my support group not counting all of you of course. I think it is definitely a matter of will over mind. Hang in there and stay distracted. I also put a picture that I hate of myself on my fridge and on my pantry doors. It is a pic of me and my Mom at my brother's wedding in May. The cameraman was squatting and looking up at us when he took the picture so you can imagine how I looked even fatter than usual. Looking at that really does the trick for me.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
