Ok. So I am now Officially Freaking Out.

Recommended Posts

I am set for surgery tomorrow in NYC. I thought I had this all set in my mind how it would be. I have read a ton about the surgery. I know I am good candidate for it because of the way I eat and my history. I had totally envisioned in my mind that I would be at the hospital at 6 or 8 in the morning and be in my room on the road to my new life by noon.

Well, I just got a call from the hospital and I don't even have to be there until noon and the surgery won't be until probably 2. I am completly freaked out by what should be a little detail. But in my mind, i had thought that I would not have to spend half the day being both hungry and anxious and I guess, downright scared. And I probably won't get to a room until late in the afternoon or early evening. My entire thought process about this has been thrown out and my family does not understand why I am upset.

Has anyone been a late patient for surgery? I am all discombobulated.

I had my surgery 4 days ago. I had to be at the surgery center at 1:30 pm. Surgery was at 3:00 and I left around 7. Got home and went to bed. Wasn't so bad so don't worry. :-) I wasn't that hungry before because I was nervous. I worked half that day which helped keep my mind occupied.

My surgery is scheduled for July 2nd. I know what happens when you set your mind to something and then it gets changed. We are all a bit nervous. It will all work out just fine. Just try and sleep later or watch a good comedy movie tomorrow morning. Best of luck to you!!

I was. I thought I'd be his "only" on friday at about 8 am and ended up the hospital couldn't do my surgery until 2 or so (no staff? sounds odd but that's what they said)

ANYWAY it was no big deal. I still went home that night. I just slept a little later. What's a couple hours? Nothing.

You are about to undergo a life altering event - it is only natural to be totally freaked out - I remember thinking on the way to the hospital that I still had time to change my mind - and physically putting my fist in my mouth to keep from yelling at my husband to stop and turn the car around - I am over 2 years out- down 70lbs -have about 30 to go - and I have never looked back and never had one regret - life is so much better- I feel better - I am more confidnent - and I know I could not have done this without this tool -I have tried umpteen million times before - I feel very lucky and fortunate that I was able to do this -and guess what - my life isn't soo different - sure I eat less then I did - but I can still have my favs in small amounts - I eat like a normal person now - I am a slower loser - but that is ok with me - I went from a size 22-24 to a 14w - and even those are getting too big - and to be honest, I don't exercise like I should - I am trying to change that and have begun walking with my dh to try and get the last 30lb off - but I still don't love exercise! good luck -it will all be good! Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
