 LOL

I hate trashing the religious folks, because, well - as many of you may not know or believe, I am one of them!

But, when they're like: "God is love, Bitch" I tend to believe they're a little bit disingenuous.

It's not that we trash religious folks...just the ones that try to force feed us their beliefs and then don't really follow what they are preachin

Let me just say that if a child discribed his penis and he had all these accusations there would be no settling or paying the kid off...in a child molestation case if there is enough proof then they are prosecuted it doesn't matter if the child wants to press charges or not! You opened a thread for discussion and that is what we are doing. So just because not everyone in here is agreeing with you doesn't mean we shouldn't post here, but somewhere with others that share the same views. When he said he slept with them he just meant that he shared a bed...like a slumber party. He thought he was a little boy...there was nothing dirty about him sleeping in a bed with kids when they were having a sleep over!

I hate to disagree with you, but a child did describe his penis. He was not charged, because they knew they would never get a conviction without the cooperation of the kid who described it to them. I believe he was a child molester, but I have no proof to back that up. It's just a gut feeling.

However, I do give him the credit I think he deserves for the contributions to the music and dance industry. He was an icon and a musical genius, but that does not excuse the bad things he did. He was a freak, and even though I like to listen to his music, I am honest with myself about how weird he was.

Point is...he went one way, and she went another and I think her parenting skills were slightly better.

I think MJ and kids don't mix. Even if nothing sexual happened, it messed the kids up pretty badly because it wasn't normal, it wasn't appropriate. They were strangers who became friends who slept in his bed. Even IF nothing happened, would you tell anyone about it? If you were one of those kids, would you ever feel comfortable saying, "Yeah - I was one of those kids."?

I don't know that I would.

And, his own kids have that hanging over them, too. He did have the resources to get help and he should have. But, I think he wanted to be kids so badly he didn't think about the consequences. Again, even if it was just friendship he wanted then he should have realized it wasn't the right way to go about getting his own childhood back.

To me, the lack of judgement that he displayed the last two decades proved that he wasn't fit to be a parent, and that he wasn't acting in the best intersest of anyone around him. He was just selfish.

IMO

The problem with people who need help is they don't think they need help. That's not just rich weirdos. I would hate to think I had to live the life he lead, not only as an adult, but as a child to. He was forced to be the bread winner for his entire family when he was just a little kid. It's sad that he and Farrah died this week, but Paul Newman and Charlton Heston died recently, and we hardly heard anything about them. I wonder why that is?

Although I don't put myself in the same arena as MJ at all, when my daughter was in middle school and high school, it wasn't uncommon for her and her friends to all pile into my bed to watch movies and fall asleep. I had other peoples kids in my bed almost every weekend, but I sure never thought about molesting any of them. That's JUST SICK!

My husband is a christian scout leader and has taught training for men in handling young boys. One thing he teaches is that they need to always be looking out for their own protection from accusations. If they are camping, they are not to sleep in the same tent as the boys. If there is only one boy going, they must cancel. Leaders sleep together if they choose. Never be alone in a room with a boy. Have 2 or more boys with you, or another leader. These kinds of things. Even though they don't have any intentions of hurting boys in any way, it is best to take precautions against anyone 'saying' you were alone with one. I, too, have had teen girls over for movies and popcorn and have slept on the livingroom floor with them. Nothing wrong with that. (until someone accuses you of something you didn't do, then when you defend yourself and have to say you were on the same floor with them all night, it becomes a battle of her word against yours.) Then again, what would entice a youngster to bring such an accusation forward? I believe unless it really happened, there would usually be no accusation. I don't know if MJ is innocent or guilty. I lean more guilty. He was accused twice, he was discribed, he paid them off, he likes kids, etc. But, only God and him know for sure. He is surely standing before Him now, and will have to answer for it if he is guilty.

What if your surgeon or insurance company said good riddance?

They will, once we go socialized medicine. But that is another thread, another topic.

Would you cry a tear if you lived during the war and heard Hitler died? How about Ted Bundy? Or the guy who just molested your kid? Would you cry for them?

Michael Jackson was a little before my time, but I do remember my older sisters doing the moon walk to his music. I don't know if he molested those boys or if their parents told them to say that so they would get a lot of money. But my question is, how did the boy describe his penis? I guess I'm missing something because I thought they all looked the same?! HA HA!!

I'm not saying you need to respect HIM because of his death, but it would be nice if you could show a little respect for the people mourning his death...

My thoughts exactly. Being 26yo I was never a big fan, but I can't act disrespectfully towards his death knowing there are many people, most importantly his children, suffering so much right now. Peace!

How does "disrespecting" him on a lap band message board impact his children -- or his fans, for that matter?

I can see how it upsets some of his fans, but I'm pretty sure his children aren't reading this...lol.

I am 33 years old and grew up with MJ's music. I was shocked and sad to hear of his passing. Everyone is entitled to their opinion of MJ. He was the King of Pop and he sure could dance, he also was good looking before his plastic surgery, After that he looked like Planet of the apes and he went down hill from there.

My thoughts and prayers are with the Jackson family at this time, R.I.P. MJ

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
