1/2 way thru first day of Pre-op

Recommended Posts

I am 1/2 way thru my workday and this is my first day of the pre-op diet(to shrink my liver). I seem to be holding up pretty good. I have decided to write down everything I eat to hold myself accountable. I had a slimfast lowcarb high protein(20g) shake for Breakfast. I didnt have any hunger feeling all morning. Had my morning snack of yogurt(70 cals/0 fat). Our workplace has a gym so I am fortunate to be able to workout. I decided to do 30 min on the eliptical since I can't really eat. I am sitting at my desk now having my same kind of shake for lunch. So far so good. Pray for me. Thanks to you all!!:smile2:

im about at that point now. i was sooooo sleep around 10am here at work---i could barely keep my eyes open..i wonder if thats the lack of caffiene talking....

by 11:30 i was soooo ready for lunch! I had a chicken breast and Jello...and Water...and a 20 minute nap under a tree by the park...i feel better now....

i hope this two weeks goes by fast...i have a feeling i'm gonna be crawling into bed very early tonight.

i will say....i miss my diet coke! lol

Ok, all you all and getting to eat on pre-ops just stink, lol! I am wishin that all docs followed the same procedure...

Start my pre-op July 10th. If I can see through it, I can have it providing its sugar free. My only dairy is from the milk to mix my Protein shake up (3 a day) and my only solids are sf Jello and popsicles.... This is gonna suck..Did I mention I have a teenage son that eats ALL THE TIME???

Good luck on your pre-ops!! Keep up the good work and stay strong!

I guess i'm gonna go look for maybe those slimfast low carb Protein shakes today at lunch....I made it through day one, but i have to tell you, i had a huge headache last night and woke up with it too - thats sooo not like me, i never really get headaches.

I can say this, if i'm going through caffiene withddrawls, i'm glad i'm going through this now without thelapband in place..by the time i get to surgery, i'll be through this...

I'm hoping the high Protein shake will fill me up and maybe somehow satisfy me.

This does indeed suck lol. but i do hope it gets easier....

Hang in there! I am doing modified pre-op dieting until tomorrow because I am out of town, but I am still doing as low-carb & high Protein as possible. Only 13 days till surgery!!!!! Tomorrow, nothing but Protein Shakes and salads with grilled chicken!

hey all...its the second day and I must say its better than i thought it was going to be. Its my lunch time at work. I did a workout class called Zumba. It is dancing to latin music. It was fun...really didnt seem like excerise. So now I am "drinking" my lunch. I am VERY suprised that I have not had the "hunger" feeling in my stomach. It is so weird to me. I have been able to continue my day...keeping busy and drinking a good amount of water(which keeps me walking to the bathroom). I have a banana for mid-afternoon snack and sugarfree gum in case of an emergency.

Thanks to you all. I feel like I have some people with me on this journey that completely understand what I am feeling and going thru!! I actually feel like I CAN do this.

Talk to ya later.

BTW...my nickname is Cee Cee.

I cant have salad or fruit...my pre op consists of 70-80 grams of Protein, and then just broth, s/f Jello, Water, crystal lite. Period. No milk products. No caffiene. No carbonated beverages.

I had a terrible headache last night and this morning...I went to target and bought some Atkins Protein drinks. I looked for low cal slimfast, but they didnt have it, only regular slimfast and t he sugar/carbs seemed to high. Because it seems like i'm on NO CARBS at all.

I did pick up some different flavors of crystal lite. I came back, had the strawberry and liked that alot. I was happy because the flavor was good and after i ate my chicken, Jello and had that, I felt better.

Uh, guess what? There is differnet TYPES of crystal lite, i just found. out. I was looking at the box, and the strawberry one is "crystal ENERGY"...YEP, 60 mg of caffiene!

I went through caffiene withdrawls for a day and 1/2 only to have caffiene again??? Urgh!!!

I went for my pre-op appt yesterday and had the 2 hour nutrition class. We also "had" to buy almost $200 in Medifast/Healthwise food for our 2 week pre-op diet. It all looks really gross, and I have not been able to find any positive comments about the taste of the product. :(

I kind of wish we were given the choice to stick to some other kind of diet that didn't cost so much!!

Anyone else try the Medifast Diet?

OH MAN...i think that would completely suk. But now that I think about it my slimfast is just about $100 for both weeks. But we have to look at it as an investment. An investment into our health.

I am on Day 3 of pre-op diet and I must day that things are going A WHOLE LOT better than I anticipated. I was really dreading this pre-op diet. I got on the scale and it was down 6 lbs....I was totally amazed!! My goal was to lose 10 lbs before surgery. I am seeing the light at the end of the tunnel!!! Pray for me!

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
