Any July Bandsters out there?

Hi,

I'm Maggie from Cincinnati. Dr. Trace Curry is doing my band on July 20th. I meet with his office on June 29 to do the pre-op tests and get the liquid diet supplies to use for the 2 weeks before the surgery.

Anyone else getting ready for surgery in July? Are you nervous? I'm actually not. I feel really great about this decision and have no second thoughts. I'd love to hear from you!:blushing:

Hey all, I'm seriously looking into doctors now and would like to know what is the average waiting period for having surgery in mexico if anyone is scheduled for surgery down there I would love to hear how far in advance most surgeons will need you to schedule. Also has anyone had surgery in Ensenada? :)

Going to post before my laptop dies!!! LOL!!!! My surgery is Monday and I'm exited....and nervous. I've only lost 7 pounds. I'm on low cal diet....I usually do protein shakes during the day and a lean cuisine or ww meal at night. My husband is going to come and wait for me...awwww....just kidding. He is legally blind and can't drive so my sister is taking us there and will pick us up, but my hubby will be there probably listening to his MP3 player or something until it's time to go. Hopefully all will go well.....good luck to those still waiting for surgery and congrats to those who are done with theirs.....

Wow, I can't believe tomorrow is the date!!!! I never thought the day would come!

Hi Freedom, I go for my pretesting tomorrow. I am still very nervous. I am on my 2 weed preop diet now which consist of 2 protein shakes and 1 frozen dinner. I also can have broth and sugar free frozen pops. I did eat a few crackers with cheese one day. I am diabetic and was feeling week. I hope everything goes great for you. By the way does your son like Tennessee?

I am so excited, my surgery is on July 15th!~ I got a cold last week and have had to delay for one week:frown: but I'm pleased to say that my surgery is, once again, just around the corner :). Anyone else out there getting banded this July from Los Angeles?

HI Everyone,

I got my surgery date-----JULY 29th. Yah! My doctor didnt' metion anything about a liquid diet before surgery and it's making me nervous, since so many of you have been put on it. I go in for pre-op testing on 7/21 and an appt with my doctor on July 23rd! I am ready and going to follow every suggestion that the doctor tells me. I am ready to have energy and feel good about myself.

My surgery was in Tijuana. One lady there called the week prior to her surgery. I had 3 weeks out by my choice. Research your doctor. I think Wasabubblebutt has a link for that on her posts. Or the ones listed on this site. Good luck.

My surgery is July 21st I am very exited. I just started my liver reducing liquid diet on Saturday. I am hoping this is the worst part of it all. This week is going to drag by.

Hey there, my surgery is scheduled for the 29th of July. I am sooo excited. I go the 17th for my pre testing and to the nutrionist and Im sure get my diet info and so forth. I am soooo ready but nervous. I am really nervous about the pre-op & post op diet but I am ready for it to happen! Good luck to all of you and keep us posted on it. Thanks.

I am 7 hours post op and am doing good so far. A little tender and my mouth is sooooooooo dry!!!!!!! I've been dozing off and on since I got home and am propped up on pillows. How said is it that I am craving some broth! LOL!!!! I hope that everyone is doing good!!!!! Have a good day/night!!!!

I had my band put in on 7/6 at 10 am! Everything went very smoothly. When I first woke up, I remember telling someone that it felt like an elephant was standing on my chest and I couldn't breath, they just told me to take deep breaths and within a few minutes I was fine. It felt like in no time at all I was back in my room snoozing. My fiance was great, kept me company the entire time but knew when to be quiet too so I could sleep. My nurse was great, made me walk up and down the hall 2x in between naps. They discharged me at 7pm and I actually felt great, I came home and cleaned the kitchen, lol.

2nd day was the worst for me. I just couldn't get comfortable. The port area was really hurting and the gas was bad. And then embarassingly, everytime I tried to relieve gas I would mess myself at the same time:scared2:! I guess it was all that liquid from the pre-op diet. Still happens to this day, so I have learned very quickly to go to the bathroom if I need to get rid of any gas.

3rd and 4th day was good, a little uncomfortable but not too bad.

5th day, I actually got really hungry today but I had about 4-6oz of carnation instant breakfast and that helped. The biggest thing now besides hearing all the rumblind and tumbling going on in my belly is I cannot burp and it's driving me nuts. It's like it come almost all the way up but no matter what I do I can't get it out. I'm off of the pain meds which I'm really glad of, and I actually went shopping at Walmart and Target today as well as put in 2 hours at work.

Good luck to all of you!

I hope my day 2 isn't like yours!!! LOL!!!! But try starting your menstrual cycle the day before your surgery! That stinks!!!!! Cramps were in high gear this morning when I checked in for surgery, but i'm a little over 7 hours preop and feeling good so far!:crying:
