Dr. Brian Swain - Lapband Surgery on May 14th

Recommended Posts

I have been very satisfied with the way my surgery went. I have had no problems and I believe that Dr. Brian Swain is one of the best. He is very concerned about all of his patients.

I went to the doctor on May 26th I had lost a total of 22 pounds. I have been trying to walk a mile at least 4 days a week. Congrats on your weight loss. I get the hiccups sometimes when I eat and my nutritionist told me that meant that I was full and if I kept eating it might make me sick. Do you ever have the hiccups?

Hi newladi I am sorry to hear that you are having a bad day. I hope that before long you will be able to walk and each day will get better. I have not had a fill yet I don't really get hungry between meals but it is so hard for me to lose weight anyway. I ask Dr. Swain about the amount of calories and he said not to eat any less than a 1000 a day. I do go over sometimes but I try not to by very many. I also have arthritis and I have already had a total knee replacement on both legs and I also take medication for it so I know how you must feel. I eat different things and I have not found anything so far that I cannot eat either. Please keep in touch and let me know how you are doing it is good to be able to talk to someone that is going through the same thing I am. When do you go back to the doctor. I do not go until June 30th I may be getting pretty hungry by then LOL. You take care of yourself.

Oh yeah you got to remember that part of that weight lost was from the liver shrinking diet. How did you like that diet I was getting pretty tired of it by the time I had my surgery.

Hello Sunflower

I believe that everyone has some apprehension about having any surgery but I would have the surgery without any doubt if I had not already had it. I have not had any major problems since having the surgery and I have lost 40 pounds and have lost 6 to 7 inches in my waist. The only thing that bothered me was the gas that went up into my shoulders it did hurt for a while but it seem to me the more you walk the quicker it stops hurting. If you decide to have the surgery please let me know how you do.

Good Luck 2 you

Kygurl

When did you have your surgery? My biggest fear is that I will not be successful. I was always thin until I started birth control pills. Then I gained weight like crazy. Shortly afterwards I was diagnosed with poly cystic ovarian syndrome(PCOS). That was 6.5 years ago. I workout like crazy and watch what I eat but despite all of my efforts and diets my weight continues to creep up. Do you know anybody who has had lapband that has PCOS?

My surgery was done on May 14th of this year. I had the same fear you had that I would not succeed. My surgeron says that I am doing just fine if I lose 1.5 to 2 pounds a week he says that this is good. I guess I just want it to come off alot faster. I am sorry that I do not know anyone that has had surgery that had PCOS. I wish you every success is you decided to go ahead and have the surgery.

Hi Sunflower80 it is good to hear from you. I want to congratulate you on your decision to have the surgery but I was sorry to hear that you had some complication. I am glad to hear that you are doing good now and losing 23 pounds in that length of time is fantastic. I am doing well I had a fill in November and was sick for 4 weeks before I went back and had Dr. Swain to take some out. I think he wanted to shoot me for waiting so long LOL. I have lost 61 pounds so far and I feel so much better. I have 4cc in my band right now so I can still have 6 more my band will hold 10cc. I have hopes that maybe I will lose another 50 or 60 pounds between now and December 31 of this year. I have talked long enough so I wil let you go but please keep in touch and let me know how you are doing. Take Care of yourself.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.
