  1. I am on ssi also and medicaid covers the surgery. They make you jump through alot of hoops but it is worth it. And when they say you have to have 7 months of nutrition therapy make sure YOU GO! I messed up and ended up having to go 9 months. I wish you well and hope it works!
  2. Is there anyone still on here? I am having my surgery feb 11th and I am so nervous and so excited! I have read dr swains profile thing and glad there are good comments about him. Murray hospital scares me to death! I hope all goes well!
  3. I had to quit smoking too. :thumbdown:I was told it was for healing purposes. The doc said no operation if you dont quit. I am trying reaaaaal hard! I used to smoke 2 packs a day so its tough going down to a few puffs a day if anything. I have been chewing gum like its going out of style. And just got rid of all the cigs. If I dont have any there is no temtation (mostly cause I am too lazy to go to town to get them lol) I wish you luck! You just have to find your own way of doing it. Whatever works for you.
  4. My Journey into a new world
  5. My Journey into a new world It is new and I dont have any followers. But I am doing it to keep my mind on the prize if ya know what I mean lol :cursing:
  6. #1. Surgery date? February 11, 2010 #2. State you live in? Kentucky #3. Doctor/Surgery Center? Dr. Brian Swain #4. Insurance or self pay? Insurance #5. Age and height? 29 / 5'8.5" #6. Current weight and goal weight? 318 / 170 #7. What was your deciding factor for having this surgery? I have had alot of scares lately all due to my weight. I started taking insulin shots and am on a ton of meds. I am sick and tired of being sick and tired! I am young but my body feels like its in it 80s. I want to be a young woman, get married, and have babies. I want to go to a normal store, ride a roller coaster, and not be deathly scared of a turnstyle! Ok I could go on with this for hours but you get the point. :scared2: #7. Do you have the support of family and friends? I am so blessed. I have the best mother in the whole world. She is taking time off work to be there for surgery and to take care of me after. I also have alot of support from my wonderful friends who will love me fat or not fat. #8. Concerns and questions? Most of all I wonder if this will work. I am so willing to work hard. I am scared to death of surgery because this will be my first. I am the biggest pain wimp ever! A simple little headache can take me down. I am also hoping I am strong enough to get through the LSD. The reason I am doing this is because I cant control this monster so what if it takes over. I am scared about the changes that will happen when I start losing weight. I have always been fat and I dont know anything else. Will I start feeling vulnerable because I am getting smaller and dont protect myself as well as my fat shell did? Wow I have a ton of things on my mind and a million questions lol :cursing:
  7. I am getting banded the day before in kentucky. I just saw the date and clicked. I wish you well!! :cursing:
